Hello all! My family of six recently rented at Ocean Oak and loved it. We loved the full kitchen, and spacious two-bedroom room. We attended the presentation, and it was way too costly, but now that I've found resale I've been researching like crazy and am ready to make some offers. I'm sure these questions are in this forum somewhere, so please forgive me, was hoping someone could help me.

I'm not understanding how it works if I buy say, 11,200 weeks in a gold week, 1 bedroom at Elara.

If I want to use these points to book say, a 2br at Ocean Oak in a Platinum season, how does that convert? Do I still have the 11,200 points, or does the point value go down for a Platinum week?

Is this point chart accurate: https://sellingtimeshares.net/resorts/hilton-grand-vacation-club/point-charts/

Thank you!!

Also, can I pool my points. If I buy say, three 4,000 point contracts, can I combine them to book one vacation?

Look at getting a resell Platinum Season if possible. The cost will be a bit more upfront but the Maintenance Fees are the same as a Gold and you get more Points.

Points are points at 9 months. You can combine and book as long as you have enough points for the season and size you are looking for. And of course, as long as it is available.

Got it. So if you really wanted to stay at a certain property in the exact week you wanted, buying either that week or the correct season would be important? We are flexible travelers, which is another reason the program appeals to me.

How do you get more points, sorry can you explain?

The two bedroom gold and platinum both have the same maintenance fee, but the platinum week comes with more points than a gold week.

@Bridgetc15, Please understand that Ocean Oak is one of the most popular resorts in the HGVC system. They have greater than 99% occupancy rate for the year. This also means that it is difficult to book because of the competition (but doable with flexibility being very helpful). If you miss booking exactly when the club booking window opens, then don't expect to book Ocean Oak.

That’s totally fair. I was just kind of using it as an example to be honest since I was just there. Thanks!

Take your time ... keep researching and asking questions. Don't rush into anything. There are plenty of HGVC resale timeshares available and many for free. But free isn't always the best strategy. Suggest the most points for the lowest maintenance fees. Maintenance fees are forever so that needs to be part of your calculation. Best of luck.
