Newbie Question - Hyatt CUP Points

I am in the process of closing on a Hyatt Coconut Point week (RESALE) and had a question about CUP points.

Do I have to book AND stay during the months of the CUP or can I book during the CUP period for a stay afterward?

So my assumption is that HHRP begins July 1 and runs July 2016 - Jan 2017. CUP runs Jan 2017 - June 2017, and LCUP July 2017 - Jan 2018.

Can I use the CUP window of Jan 2017 - June 2017 to book a stay after June 2017? If so, how far in advance can I book?

Sorry, looked at Kai's site, saw the info on the booking windows, but this scenario was not clear to me.

Actually CUP starts the day you get next years points and runs for 12 months. During CUP you can book any reservation even if the occupancy occurs after CUP expires. I'm not sure how far out beyond CUP the occupancy can occur, but my guess is it will extend out 6 months (and possibly longer).

You can only book when a unit becomes available to the HRC. Almost always, that is 6 months prior to occupancy but sometimes longer. The best approach is to plan ahead and get on the wait list.

Thank you so much. It is good to know occupancy can occur past the end of CUP. I will wait until I close and ask Hyatt if there is a time.

Thanks again.
