New WKORV Purchase Affected By Previous Owner Modification

I purchased a 1 Bedroom Premium OV Villa this year and was very happy with the process. I used the unit to reserve a Summer 2020 week without issue. Last month I received an email stating that my reservation was cancelled and when logged into my account I also noticed that the WKORV was removed from my dashboard. I contacted Vistana right away and was informed that the cancellation and removal was due to my unit being transferred. I told the representative that I did not request a transfer and did not know what she was talking about. Long story short is that it was escalated to the resolution team where it was determined that the request came from the previous owner for units that were still in their possession.

After going back and forth with Vistana they made a new reservation with an updated time stamp to make certain that I have priority since the reservation was made at exactly midnight 12 Months out. Vistana stated that when the first owner purchased the original three weeks they were placed under the same contact number. I purchased one of the three weeks but was given the same contact number as the first owner that still had two weeks in their possession. The issue is whenever the original owner makes any changes to the two weeks that they still have in their possession it will affect the week that I own.

Has anyone on this forum heard of such a situation? and if you have what it the best way of resolving it? I don't want to have to deal with this going forward.

I almost ended up with this situation when I bought our SVV weeks. I intended to only buy 1 week, but the seller had 2 weeks under the same contract and deed. I was told by the broker that I had to buy both weeks or none. That is how I have 2 weeks. I am interested to understand how to break off one of the weeks, sorry I'm not much help to your problem, but I plan to listen to the other responses.

Sounds like they need to make a new contract number for each deed.

Thank you for the advice unfortunately I was directed to the same owner services line as the regular number. I was informed that I will have to wait until the process with the first owner has been completed before anything can be done about the contract number. It appears as though they are trying to rectify the issue and it has been escalated to the IT department for resolution. They assured me that the process will take no more than 60 to 90 days (process started last month). Therefore the property should appear back in my dashboard no later than the end of February . I have no plans to go to Maui in January or February of 2021 so it is not so much inconvenient as it is annoying.

FYI - The number that you mentioned (888-460-8502) will no longer be in service as of February 28th 2020. I guess they are in the process of consolidating services.

This is an FYI for all owners considering a purchase of a unit from another owner. Please check to confirm that the contract number is the only associated with one unit. This issue was not finally resolved until the beginning of July 2020. I know that Covid may have been a factor in the delay but 8 months is still a very long time to wait for a resolution.

I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

Vistana held a reservation last year that acted as a place holder since I initially made the reservation 12 months out before this issue occurred. In the end they ended up banking the points for me to use over the next 2 years and cancelling the place holder.
