Hi All.

I have an existing RCI "weeks" account which is up for renewal at the end of this year. I'm thinking of buying some Wyndam Points on ebay and am curious what will happen with the RCI account. Will they open up another account or will the current one just continue without any membership fees due? Can I coordinate this to buy points now and avoid paying any more membership fees? Thanks - Cullen

If your existing RCI account is a non-Wyndam account you would get a new separate account if you purchased a Wyndam points account. Wyndam accounts can not be combined with non-Wyndam accounts.

Wyndam will pay for your new account though but you would have to continue to pay for your non-Wyndam "weeks" account.

If you had an "RCI" points account though, your "weeks" account would be free as the RCI points account includes the "weeks" account.

That is not correct. Your current RCI account can be used for your Wyndham RCI account. When we got our Wyndham points account, we gave them our membership number for our current RCI account. Wyndham began paying the dues on that account and we got a refund of the 3 years of fees we had paid in advance.

If your RCI account is due to expire at the end of this year and you have any pending exchanges or deposits, you may want to renew for one year as it takes several months to transfer a resale purchase of Wyndham points. Plus you will need to contact owner services to ensure they don't issue you a new RCI account but use your current one during the transfer process. May take repeated calls on your part. Good luck with your purchase.

I thought I'd seen posts that indicated you could add non-wynham weeks to the RCI account provided by Wyndam. Just so I'm clear here's my understanding.

1. I believe that if buy Wyndham points, you get a RCI "weeks" account that's paid for through the Wynham MF.
2. You can add outside weeks to that new RCI account.

Maybe I should just pay for 1 more year on my existing RCI account and see how it goes. Hopefully I'd be able to transfer those weeks to the new RCI account at some point? Any idea how long it takes from re-sale purchase to the point when the new RCI account is up and running?

Hey Shorts,

Thanks for the reply. That answers all the questions I have. I'll go ahead and renew RCI for another year right now.

Thanks,

Cullen

Thanks for the correction guys. I was thinking of II. My first Wyndham resort was in II so my Wyndham account is with II and not RCI.

Sorry about that.

When I joined Wyndham, I retained the same RCI Weeks account (so it's the same account number, starting with the number of the first RCI Week I had owned/deposited into RCI). I requested and got a credit card refund for the advance year RCI Weeks dues I'd previously paid for.

I agree with Conan. When I got into Wyndham points I already had an existing RCI Account. That is still my RCI account, Wyndham just now pays for it.
