We are currently at the Mayan Palace location at the marina, Puerto Vallarta. Since first coming here in 2002, the Sea Garden property across the street has been closed due to an earlier storm. Now, after all these years new construction is ongoing. We were told that it’s to be a terminal for their cruise ship.
How that marina (which is much smaller than the bigger marina south of here) and the
small cobbled roads will handle a moderately sized cruise ship crowd remains to be seen.

Wow, it’s been quite a wait for that area to be developed! The smaller marina and narrow roads definitely seem like they’ll be a challenge with the cruise ship crowds. It’ll be interesting to see how they handle the flow of people and traffic once it’s up and running.

Vidanta's cruise ship is a pretty modest affair, built to just traverse the Sea of Cortez.- a LONG time ago in the usual life of cruise ships. It will work well with a modest port.

The Sea garden was damaged more than 20 years ago - November 2001. We were at the MP a few weeks after it hit and it was in good shape, but not the Sea Garden.The small water park with a lazy river was partially open - the big water slide was closed. Basically just the lazy river and the small kids area. My grandson was almost 3. I have a cute picture of him floating the lazy river. He is about to turn 26.

The Sea Garden was closed right after the storm, and the following year, so was the lazy river. A lot of the stuff has been cleared over the years and last year I noticed that some employees were parking over there.

There have been various rumors of things going to be put in there, but nothing has happened. That channel is not very wide. Some of the smaller day trip boats are docked around there.

My understanding in 2024 was that Vidanta was going to " ferry " passengers out to the cruise ship from the reception building that was in place [ Feb 2024}
on their Marina side property [formerly Sea Garden PV Marina] .

I also recall seeing a cruise departure lounge area on the ground floor one of the Grand Luxxe NV buildings in 2023.

Perhaps the logistic departure planning has changed based on your report of new construction on the former SG-PV Marina property.

If they're just going to anchor in the Bay and use tenders they could conceivably tender to two places. Those two spots aren't far away from each other by boat.

Ferrying passengers makes mor sense based on the narrowness of the waterway. They are doing lots of cosmetics, pathways, small overpasses, etc on the old Sea Garden land.
