New Style of Wristbands?

Is MVC charging for the new wristbands? They are free at Worldmark (unless you count having to fend off sales weasels to get them at some properties).
I would say that Marriott's use of the wristbands is better than Worldmark and Wyndham. Worldmark and Wyndham say you need to go to the marketing desk to get wristbands. Why is the marking people handing out room access keys? I actually have an issue with them even being able to program key cards. Sure Marriott charges a fee but many would prefer to do that in order to avoid the marketing people at Worldmark and Wyndham.

We had these at a Ritz Carlton and really liked these. Lighter weight than the old one and no larger either.

I saw them at the Marriott Maui Ocean Club almost 2 months ago. Usually if my old wrist bands don't work they'll exchange them for free. This time they said I'd have to pay. The proceeds would go to charity. But the lady then said that they were already thinking about replacing these new ones so I didn't upgrade.

It is really more about does that property have a Sales unit active. About half the properties I have stayed at have no sales, then they just hand you keys, wristbands, etc. If they have sales then you need to see the "conceirge" desk for a parking pass/wristbands/key activation/etc. Takes a few minutes of explaining I got all my Worldmark credits for free on ebay and would never pay for them. Then unplug the phone when I get to the room. I look at at it as the price of entry for a system I find great value in. Just finished a stay at Marriott's Newport Coast using a WM week I deposited. We then moved to WM Anaheim for nine nights. The sales there are very bad, but not hard to navigate if you just keep saying no.

We got the new style wristbands at KoOlina in September, we brought our old ones along but I left them in our luggage by accident at checking. I found the new ones a lot more comfortable than the old silicon ones.
We returned from Ko'Olina on 12/7 and were given 3 wristbands for free. I do like the new ones since they are very light and waterproof. They did change colors from being in the water, but worked fine. I'm hoping that they will work elsewhere. When we were at the Surf Club in September, we were advised that their wristband are only usable in Aruba.
