Excellent story and video.

Perhaps this should be mentioned in the next TUG Newsletter.

Perhaps I've just become numb to these because we see them so often.. I can't work up much empathy for this guy! The idea that he could sell the ownership for twice as much as he paid just a few months after buying from the resort doesn't make any kind of sense.. If he would just have taken a second to think about it- he should have been smart enough to understand that this imaginary buyer would simpy buy from the resort instead of paying him twice as much! His own greed got in the way of his common sense..

I'm not defending SBA in the least.. I'm just saying that people should start using their heads for more than just holding up hats..

No "victims" --- only willing VOLUNTEERS...

I agree 100%. It never ceases to amaze me how people who voluntarily choose to make bad personal decisions somehow want to be portrayed as "victims" when they are instead just willing volunteers.

Seabreeze Scam

I also had a phone call from Seabreeze Advertising Corp. asking if I still wanted to sell my Maui timeshare as they had a client there who was very interested. Having me hold while they spoke to the "client" they then came back and said they were willing to pay $22,000 for the two weeks. Red Flag immediately so I said I would discuss it with my husband and he could call me back. Which he did saying that he could only give me 24hrs. I then told him that the price sounded good and he could send me the purchase agreement and that I would run it by my attorney. End of story!!

My husband paid $3,250.00 to SeaBreeze Advertising shortly after his previous wife died and before he met me. I do not EXPECT to ever see money refunded even though I do not believe they properly advertised our timeshares as per the written agreement.

I never filed a complaint with the Florida AG. In case anyone knows whether it is helpful to send documentation of the written agreement with Seabreeze Advertising, credit card statement showing $3,250.00, and requests asking them to fulfill their agreement.

It would be great if the Florida AG put them out of business, but they and others have taken people for so much money, people would be lucky to get pennies on the dollar.

Just curious if anyone knows the statute of limitations. The payment was in 2006.

He doesn't pay these kind of companies anymore.

The only chance the AG will go after these individuals is if enough consumer complaints are filed.

Not the question asked...

"Flexible" (post #7 above) asked if anyone knew about the statute of limitations (...sorry, I don't).

Seabreeze Advertising is already publicly identified by the Florida AG as being under active investigation. Accordingly, the applicable statute of limitations for prior wrongdoing is certainly important info to learn.

also note that you will not recieve a refund if the AG is successful unless you file a complaint as well.
