New Recent Reports of Wyndham Rental Crackdowns

Just as a PSA, over on disboards, there are several posts in the Bonnet Creek thread that Wyndham is undertaking another rental crackdown. Here's a recent example:

I’m renting from VacationUpgrades for the week before Easter and got a phone call from Ken. Apparently Club Wyndham is restricting all commercial renting which is not through their official arm extraholidays. He offered to be available on property during checkin which I agreed to, as a safeguard to our upcoming rental. He and his wife are now all retired which is unfortunate since they are so very good.

It’s been an “owner priority period” for the past several years. We've booked a stay in May, but now the kids are in higher grades and missing a week + isn't a good idea.

I am glad not to get those letters anymore. They are nasty. I was looking through my files, since I am typing deeds currently to transfer Bali Hai contracts for our giveaway, and I found a few of those letters, sent one right after another, and we received them while we were on Kauai at Shearwater, so we had no idea until our accounts were shut down and we made phone calls.

We kept them to remind ourselves of the major attitude change Wyndham has about renting reservations. We now only add family and friends at the same times we will be there. Our son is currently at a trade show to expand his product line in New Orleans, he is on our ownership, and two of his employees also have rooms for the same dates. He was ecstatic because hotel rooms were $200 per night + tax, and these one bedroom stays were $200 for three nights. We do love our discounts. He still cannot believe the bargain he got on the rooms, especially after checking in yesterday and seeing how beautiful they are. It made my day!

This summer I am planning a Steamboat Springs trip with family to use a lot of points we have built up. I forwarded points to this year from last year and have 2.4 million in that account. Yeah.
