Decide when you want to go and reserve 12 months out when the window opens.

Congrats on your purchase.

I would also add your week to your II account. Should be easy, but don't pay the fee to add the week. Pay to extend your membership and they will add it for free.

This of course would assume that your current II account is eligible to take the Marriott unit. If it is a corporate account, such as a Starwood SVN account, you won't be able to add the Marriott week and would require another II account with its own membership fee. If that is the case, only sign the unit up if you plan to trade it.

We are officially owners.
Registered and paid 2016 MF.
What do I do next? My first use is 2017.

Why did you pay 2016 maintenance fees if your first use is 2017? That is about $2000 you should not have been responsible for. If you have an EOY it is about $1000 you should not have been responsible for. I hope you factored that in to your purchase price and paid less than what you were otherwise willing to pay to buy the unit.

Yes we were aware of that, it was a part of the deal :)

I currently have 2 accounts with II already, both are SVN though, SDO and HRA are separate, now that you mentioned it, I was wondering if I can actually merge SDO and HRA

I'm hopin to use it, we purchase to use. Is there anything I should do within the Marriott system?

Another plus to the 2017 usage and the 2016 MF is that it may have made the contract less attractive to Marriott exercising their ROFR>

Make sure to book at 9AM the first day the reservation window opens, esp. if you are looking for one of the more popular weeks. And then look forward to enjoying a great resort! K0'Olina is what made us fall in love with timesharing. Too bad it's such a long flight for us.

Congratulations on your new ownership. A beautiful resort. Enjoy it. We are headed back there in June and can't wait.

If you can add it for free when you extend your membership, great but in reality, Ko Olina is way too expensive to use as a trader as everything is really a down trade unless you are trading back into Hawaii, even then there are much cheaper ways to trade into Hawaii than using a unit with $2000 MF. You are better off renting it out if you are not going to use it rather than deposit it into II.

Unfortunately for west coasters, it is 9:00am Eastern Time. So 6:00am for you. Sorry.

Is it 12 months out or 13 months (I thought I read this here at TUG) out when I can book?

12 months if you only own one week or are booking only one of your weeks if you own multiple. You can only book at 13 months if you are booking two or more consecutive or concurrent weeks from multiple ownerships.
