New Owner = Pending transfer (resales) & expiring points (bank via reservation)?

How can we prevent the current "loaded points" from expiring (Apr 2025) as closing with WM is taking forever?
  • Read a current transferring owner could make a "dummy reservation" before pts expire (4/2025) and could bank/rebook expired points an additional year after points expire (4/2026)
    • Will that "dummy reservation" be transferred to us? along w/ the current points (does the current owner need to use a guest cert (to us) or buy credit protection?)
    • Can housekeeping points (expiring 4/2025) also be bank w/ the "dummy reservation"
    • If the above all works, assume once we take ownership we can cancel the "dummy reservation" and rebook before (4/2026)?
    • Could we transfer to RCI or II after cancelling the "dummy reservation"?
Background... Purchasing my 1st WM resale points (7k). Its been taking over 6 months and just got our confirmation for WM that our docusign has been completed (read after docusign, it can take 6-8 weeks to transfer ownership & another 8-10 weeks for points to transfer). Current owners are reasonable to work with.

I think the current owner might be locked out of being able to make a reservation while an ownership transfer is in process.
