On the plus side he has SPG experience.

On the negative side Diamond cannot be good but not sure when he was at Diamond . Mgt drove that company and it's owners into the ground with poorly maintained units. High if not higher MF compared to MVC for poorer quality units. HGV is now cleaning up the mess by bringing many resorts back to Hilton standards. .

Diamond implemented daily fees for exchangers. I am always worried/ concerned this will happen to Marriott/ Westin/ Sheraton.

Michael Flaskey was the CEO of Diamond when the deal was brokered and finalized with HGV. He was CEO of DRI from 2017-2021 when the deal was finalized. It looks like Avril was DRI's CEO for only a little over 2 months. He was hired Jan 1 2017 and retired March 6 2017 citing family and personal reasons. He stayed in an advisory role to Apollo. Flaskey was promoted from COO at that time.

Flaskey also held senior leadership positions with Starwood and Fairfield (now Wyndham). DRI was originally bought out by the private equity firm Apollo in 2016, who then sold it to HGV in 2021. I don't know if it was Flaskey or Apollo (or both) that instituted the daily exchange fee.

I can’t think of a worse pedigree for a MVW Board member, than one with a tenure at Damond Resorts, in a leadership position. I wonder if people remember how unscrupulous Diamond was, the theft and deception in their sales and marketing operations, and Diamond’s sub-par resorts and anti-consumer rule and policy-making; this is the character of someone that MVW draws upon for a Board position.

Matthew Avril might as well have claimed he worked for Adolf Hitler.

My confidence in MVW and MVC is the lowest it has been in close to 40 years. Fortunately, MVC has a number of strong leaders at certain MVC resorts. I imagine, those resort managers do all that they can to ensure the sound operation of their resorts, without, whatever comes their way, from the leadership in Orlando and Salt Lake City,
