Anyone visited the new "Summit Club" Massanutten owner's lounge? Below is what is in the winter newsletter.

It is on the 3rd floor of the ski lodge.

I bought season passes (the non-peak affordable option) for this season. If no one else has a report, I hope to have one in January.

I am assuming this is open to all owners as they are not saying it is a "Gold Card" exclusive.

I am also wondering if you are an owner if you can go any time you are there or only when staying on property.

I am not expecting the world, but as crowded as the ski lodge can be, this might be a nice thing (especially with kids if this offers some space and free hot chocolate.)

About 10 years ago, they wouldn't let my, then 92 year old, grandmother sit in the lounge while I took snowboarding lessons with my boys because I wasn't a gold card holder. Maybe its changed.

That is likely how it is (or how the staff near the door treat it). But I will try to check it out.

In the newsletter on p.13 it presumably tells all owners “make sure you check it out on your next visit to the Resort.”

P. 5 lists gold card benefits — and there is no mention of it there.

I am presuming they are taking some of our maintenance fee dollars to operate it. If they were doing developer dollars, then I would expect it to be “gold card” only.

Let us know how it works out.
My family doesnt ski, but we do like the snow tubing in Poconos. But Massanutten would be closer

We made our first ski trip to Massanutten Saturday evening.

I went up to the Summit Lounge, and was asked by the young gentleman at the entrance for an "owners card." I told him I was an owner and showed him a print out of my "current" status on my account from the website.

He said was supposed to see some kind of card showing I was an owner. Then added he had seen about 3 different kinds of cards and it was his first day on the job. He said "I am really not sure, we are not busy, so come on in."

I scoped it out for a few minutes and left. Really just chairs and space. It would have been nice to have access to when the lodge is packed, but that was not the case at the time.

We were there just over the weekend. It was very crowded. I had to wait and keep checking for someone to leave so I could take the spot. It's spacious so it was nice to rest and have hot cocoa. They did ask for the gold card on Saturday and I said I don't have it but showed the owner's letter and they let us stay. I didn't get asked again on in the evening or other days.

My son and I are skiing at Massanutten this weekend. We were in the ski lodge this evening. I pulled up my Massanutten ownership page on a tab on my cell phone. I showed it to the guy at the table (several feet away) when entering the third floor/Summit Club, and his arm motioned me on in. His vision is much better than mine if he saw it very clearly.

They weren’t crowded.
