I am happy to report that Hyatt notified us today that our ownership at Pinon Pointe is now in our account. This our first Hyatt ownership and we are looking forward to using our unit (1BR side) at PP in late October most years as well as the remaining 680 CUP points either there or at other resorts. It is a Platinum week, so we have 2,000 points available annually. Thanks again to those on TUG who provided insights to us as we went through the process.

I do have a couple of questions as I continue to learn how to effectively use our ownership, answers to which I haven't seen in the FAQ's or threads.

1. The prior owner made a reservation for us using CUP points for later this year. We still have 160 points for 2021. If availability exists for a couple days either before or after our current reservation, does Hyatt allow you to amend your reservation or do you just make a separate reservation? If they allow amendments do they charge a fee for doing so? I see that a separate reservation would require a $39 fee plus a $41 split week fee.

2. We also inherited 120 EEE points. We don't have an II account for this ownership yet, but we should have one soon. Can one get anything for 120 points in II? I understand it will depend on the resort, season and size of unit.

I appreciate any insights Hyatt owners can provide regarding these questions as well as any other suggestions you have.

Best regards.

Mike

1) Hyatt doesn't allow you to amend reservations. They can link reservations to help you stay in the same room. It's typically easier for the resort to leave you in the same room. I would expect to pay 2 mid-week stays (or housekeeping fee if trading into an HPP reservation). However, you may get lucky and only pay one fee.

2) There isn't much that you can do with 120 points. Depending on when those 120 points expire, you may consider adding 310 points to EEE as that will get you a studio. Hyatt trades well in II and I've had great luck with ongoing searches.

Thanks. I assume by adding 310 points you are referring to borrowing points from 2022. Is that correct? If so, I understand we would have to prepay the estimated MF’s.

With regard to room assignments, do they go in order based on a date stamp of when the res action was made? If so, I assume we could be negatively affected by linking a new reservation to the front end of our existing reservation. Is that correct?

If it is a 2 bedroom Diamond week it should be 2,200 points. Late October would probably be week 43 or 44. Per linked Points chart, weeks 38-44 is a Platinum week at Pinon Pointe (matching the 2,000 points you mentioned).

My misstatement. Thanks for mentioning that. I will edit my post to say “platinum.” You are also correct about the week as it is week 43.

Best regards.

Mike
