New credit card spending amount for bonus [ Shappire Reserve ]

Hi I’m kind of a points nuts with my credit card. I’ve opened a new Shappire Reserve and the bonus is 150,000 points if you spend 6,000.00 in 3 months. The annual fee is 795.00 which you pay right away no grace year. My question is does that 795.00 annual fee cost charge go towards the 6,000.00 I have to spend in 3 months?

No. None of the annual fees go towards spend unfortunately.

Will gift card purchases count toward the minimum spend?

You can’t with Amex but you may get away with Chase. If you do, I would add $50/$100 to grocery purchase and not on Giftcard dot com or something.

Also some stores will allow returns on any card. So if you pay with Chase card, you could return on debit. Again, not something I would get crazy with but if you buy 2 different sizes of shoe to see which fits ….

No problem. Always good to think outside the box for hitting the welcome bonus spend. We put all medical, dental and prescription on cards and the manually submit reimbursement through FSA. Every bit helps.
 
Whatever the purchase or bill is if they take a credit card we use one. No big purchases coming up the next few months so we will probably pay Real Estate taxes with it and maybe prepay some IRS taxes.
