II must have recently implemented, or started using data, from tracking searches as opposed to just requests. I had an email yesterday about a specific search that I make and a follow-up call from a US number asking if I needed any assistance with that specific resort, Hyatt PR.

It was impressively targeted and didn't cover all the searches I do, so I don't know if they have a list of resort that they are trying to shift inventory on. They didn't try to fob me off with alternatives, and they did also run through my future reservations and I asked them to look into other dates and locations that I am targeting, but they didn't have any available.

Now if they can get the fixes done to the website that would be even more impressive............

Anyone else experienced this or am I just being experimented on?

These sound like the calls we get from cruise lines after searching on their website for cruises.

It is unclear what they said to you. Sounds like every random call II does. Any more specific details?

My take was it was far from random and very targeted at trying to shift available HYP inventory. Its not an approach I've experienced from them before, usually the call is the one following up on an exchange request offering me an alternative I don't want and promising to carry on searching. I don't have a request in for Puerto Rico so that wasn't the trigger this time, but I do have getaway alerts set up to track when it does come up that way. They did not do any account verification with me, so had my info available when they made the call.

They called and said that they had noticed that I had been doing searches for Puerto Rico and did I need any assistance with completing a reservation for HYP as that is one of the ones that is available. I said no thank-you, they asked if they could help with anything else so I said yes, could they also look up 2 other resorts for availability, which they did, and didn't find what I wanted. They then talked me through the reservations I already have for the next few months, so could clearly see my account data.

I do several searches per day and this was specifically related to Puerto Rico and offering me HYP as opposed to anything else.

Below is an email I received a few days ago, doing similar following searches I made for St Maarten. Similarly I don't have a request in for SXM, but do have it on a getaway alert.
