Need to replace GPS TomTom in Mexico

We replaced our TomTom GO 510 with TomTom XXL 540-TM WTE before we drove to Mexico recently because Mexico maps were included and newer features made it much easier for us to drive in Mexico.

We were required to valet park our car at a resort we visited last week and realized the GPS was missing after leaving. We visited three times during the week BUT it was the ONLY occasion we gave our car keys to anyone since we arrived here.

We need to get a replacement before January 1 when we will drive from PDC/Cancun to Acapulco.

1) Finding the same or better model here at Costco, Sam's Club, Walmart, Best Buy etc would be great BUT we gave up finding the one we had in California because all of them only sold models with fewer features.

But if I could find a website listing where I could find it in Mexico that would be great. I called TomTom tech support and they don't know of a site that will indicate which stores have that model.

2) Any advice re: delays in customs if we Order from the US to be shipped to our resort in Mexico?

If we order from Amazon.com will it be best if they ship it directly to us here so their paperwork might reduce delays with customs?

Or should I have it shipped to my mailing service so they can include it in a package of mail we plan to have sent here soon?

Any advice would be appreciated.

My only advice is don't buy a TomTom. Garmin is the leader in GPS, and frankly a much better product. Good luck.

Have you used their Mexico maps? It would great to get feedback regarding Mexico maps because US maps aren't as critical to us.

My husband has AMD (age related macular degeneration) so the model we got has a five inch screen that was very good for him to see.

The one would speak the name of the streets to turn on. Huge improvement over the GO 510 which said "turn right ahead" causing us to sometimes turn too early.

I have a garmin Think it's a 350c that I used in Mexico 2 years ago and it was great; I had no problems whatsoever.
