- I've been reading this group for a few weeks now but I have a mess I can't quite figure out.
- In 1997, my Aunt and Uncle purchased an HGVC timeshare (points, not deeded) at the Seaworld Orlando location.
- My Uncle died three years ago and my Aunt asked one of her brothers-in-law to handle the estate and her finances.
- Her BIL died last month and she asked me to take over her finances for him.
- When I got to looking at the HGVC timeshare, I found that my Aunt hadn't paid her HOA fees in three years and has a balance of $5,073 for HOA and late fees.
- The BIL never removed my Uncle's name from the timeshare so it's still jointly held.
- He tried to sell the timeshare for $2,000 but I think he got no takers because, at the time, my Aunt owed $1,700 for that years HOA fees.
- I found notes and emails showing that the BIL had contacted HGVC Loss Mitigation who told him to email Portfolio Services (pfoliosvc@hgvc.com).
- In March 2025, he emailed Portfolio Services, attaching the form they had sent to him.
- It looks like he never heard back from Portfolio Services (he sent an email 2 months later saying he hasn't heard back from them and I see no other emails from them).
- My Aunt can't pay the $5,073
- I'm assuming that I can't sell the timeshare due to the $5,073 owed.
- I'm assuming that the deedback process won't work because she can't pay the $5,073
- The only other option I see is letting them foreclose on it (she's in Pennsylvania).
- Any suggestions would be appreciated.
