We are joining up with a Rick Steves' tour in September in Paris. The hotel we'll be at with the tour seems a bit outside the city center. https://www.hotel-apollinaire.com/en/.

We'll have 2 nights prior to the start of the tour and the Hotel Apollinaire has offered those for 410€. Since we'll have another 2 nights in same hotel I'm looking to see what I can find with points.

The Paris Marriott Opera Ambassador is 176K/2 night stay. Reviews go from fantastic to disappointing.

I'm trying to stay under 200K for the 2 nights. When we went in 2002 there were much fewer options. We stayed at the Marriot on Champs Elysee then.

I'd appreciate suggestions.

I can’t speak towards Marriott but I’ve stayed for over 30 years at the Warwick
It’s lovely safe and the service is great

In September, we stayed at the Renaissance Paris Nobel Tour Eiffel Hotel. Located in walking distance to the Eiffel Tower and the Arc d'triumph. The Metro is also conveniently located. We used Bonvoy points. Breakfast was included.

I would stay at the tour hotel for the two extra days rather than switch hotels. The tour hotel is in Paris, just not in a tourist district. Everything will be a couple of extra metro stops further away, but that is better than switching hotels, imho.

On Rick Steves recommendation we stayed at the Hotel du Cadran in 2014. Unbelievably great location and nice hotel. But not Marriott.

I can also recommend the Marriott Rive Gauche. Not as good a location but it was recently renovated and (usually) offers great value.

As to whether or not it's worth swapping hotels for a 2 night stay that's up to you. To us it would come down to the restaurants and Metro stations in the immediate area around the Hotel Apollinaire. If they aren't so great we would do 2/2 rather than stay 4 nights in a 'meh' neighborhood in Paris.

"Meh" is what I'm trying to avoid. Last month we stayed 5 nights in Vienna. The first 2 were at the Renaissance (meh) and last 3 were Park Hyatt (wonderful). Definitely worth a move.

Points are high now since I'm looking so close to check-in. Cash for the 2 nights would be 980€.
