ReMarkit is an adware / virus program which has infected my computer. I've tried 3 anti-virus programs and an anti-spyware program and still it is there in my browser. ( even though the anti spyware program says it has unistalled it 4 timesb :wall:)

I've looked online but the steps there are not working as it is not in my program list. It's program is in the "program" directory but I am not allowed to delete it.

The only good thing is Firefox has disabled it but it has really screwed-up Chrome.

Any advice?

Install and run these programs. No one program catches everything but together they make a pretty comprehensive attack:
If these don't find it or can't clear it, post in one of these forums for specialized malware removal help:
Thanks to Daifne, Moderator on Mozillazine forums, for this list.

Thanks Doug

You are a big help!

Tried Superspyware and it is the one that says it is there and that it uninstalled it but it is still there when I next scan the computer.

When you install and run multiple programs (such as the four below)----don't they interfere/ cause problems with each other???

You run and scan with them one at a time. You don't leave them resident. Having more than one resident antivirus/antimalware program definitely CAN lead to interference problems.

Thanks

That took care of it. YEAH!

I think the way this gets onto your computer is by a popup window. My mother-in-law was being inundated by them, and it's possible one got through. I was able to uninstall it with Windows 7 "Programs And Features" (or something like that) in Control Panel. But, it took a couple tries.

The best thing to do is to uninstall EVERYTHING that you don't recognize. Adobe, Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, could stay, but if it shows a weird name you never heard of, Uninstall.

I was told the key avoiding having this junk getting installed on your computer is to do custom installs never do express install

When you install things like a new web browser install only the browser not all the extras like the special toolbar ect.
