Hello,

My Dad owns Westin Ka'anapali North even years and we own WKN odd. We've enjoyed many great trips together but my Dad is getting older and would like to transfer ownership to us. How would we go about this?

@redslp, if your dad bought it from the developer, be sure you let whoever does the transfer know so that you retain the status of being a developer purchased week enrolled in Abound. They will need to inform Vistana/MVC during the transfer of the week to make sure it happens - couldn't hurt to speak with them yourself.

I used LT Transfers when transferring my mom's MVC ownership to my sister and I. They took care of everything and made it very easy, and the price was reasonable. You cannot go wrong with them.

Thanks to everyone who recommended LT Transfers. My Dad is working with them on the transfer and had some questions about the paperwork.
1. They ask if we own points? We don't, but wondered if we should list the Star Options value here?
2. Another question on the form: Do you need escrow services? If it's a gift transfer, is escrow needed.

Thank you for any help!

Eric had it right, if your dad bought from Westin directly, you just need to contact Vistana and transfer that week through Vistana. That would give you the Marriott Abound points as well.

If they want to transfer the deed, Vistana can’t do that.

No. StarOptions aren’t something you own, they’re just what the ownership morphs into for reservations made 8 months or less before check in. You don’t own points unless you own Abound trust points, Westin Flex, Sheraton Flex, or Aventuras.

No, escrow is only needed if money is changing hands.
