So, here's the situation: I have approx. 60000 points left for 2011, only 30000 left for 2012 and all 182000 for 2013. I want to book Florida between Christmas-New Years or just after the New Year.

If I book after Christmas (week 52 ?) I can use my 2011, 2012 points but can I borrow from 2013?

If i book after the New Year ( week 1) I take it I lose my 2011 points but can borrow 2013?

Any little tricks to work around so I don't lose my 2011 points?

I know I can call the 800# but they may not tell me every possibility.

Thank you

Im assuming your use year ends Dec 31, so you reservation must have a check in date before then, ie week 52 or you lose the 2011 points

If you wait until the end of this month to make your reservation (ie 60 days ahead of your reservation, you will be able to borrow the 2012 points.

You can use all the 2013 points by placing them in the points credit pool (you have to call to do this)

so as I see your choices:

1) make a 60000 point reservation for sometime with a check in this year
2) wait until the end of this month and make a 90000 point reservation with a check in this year (60000 2011 points and 30000 borrowed from next year)
3) deposit some or all your 2013 points to the points credit pool, You still have to make a reservation for check in this year, but you will have up to 242000 points to make that reservation

Choices 1 and 2 will be tough to do... because there may not enough points for the vacation you want or because you will probably have a few extra 2012 points and have to face the same problem next year. Choice 3 is your best solution. the credit pool points are good for 3 years...

Remember that after Jan 1 you will have 182000 2014 points. You can add these to the points credit pool too. You have to use or lose those 60000 points this year, but you can head off a similar problem in future years by depositing everything in the pool

I think the points credit pool is a great tool to extend your use year, and avoid the problem you are facing. I have already either used or made reservations with all my 2011, 2012 and 2013 points...(nothing left over) I am eagerly awaiting Jan 1 so I can start working with my 2014 points

Thank you. Here's another question: In order to not lose my 2011 60000 points must all 60000 points actually be used in 2011 or just start my vacation in 2011. For example, If i start my vacation on December 31st which is only a 20000 point day will get to use the other 40000 points for jan 1 and jan 2 or will they be gone because it's 2012, so in order to use my 60000 2011 points I must start my vacation no later than Dec 29th ??

You can deposit all of 2012 and 2013 points in the credit pool. Make your reservations for this year and the remainder of the points are good for three years from the date you placed them in the pool and you have no concerns about them expiring in 2012. They will be good to use until 2014.

PS It does not matter that you have used some of the 2012 points. If your use year has not started, you ARE allowed to place those points in the credit and you only have to pay the $39 fee once for all that you place in the pool.

As long as the reservation starts in 2011, you can use the 60K 2011 points. If you pool the remainder of the 2012(and 2013 if needed/need be), then you can use the balance to complete your reservation.

Gordon

PS There is a possible exception and that would be if Wyndham have to split the reservation into two parts. You could possibly run into problems there and I cannot say what would happen. My present reservation for 7 days is split into 5 days and 2 days and I had to do two seperate confirmations. So depending where the split lands, there could be an issue. Maybe someone more familiar with that angle could clear it up.

I have been told that what you are suggesting would require two $39 fees.

Uses the points from 2012 use year - Hence, if it was a DEC 30-Jan1 for the first part, it would be the 2011 Use Year. The next 4 nights would be 2012 use year points. Same thing happens if PRIME week 52 checkin date costs more points; but Week 1 for the next 4 nights is LOW week 1 points used.
