I have agreed with a seller to purchsae his timeshare in Hilton Head (Barony Beach). I've called several of the closing companies, but none of them do SC. Apparently, in South Carolina, you need a SC attorney.

Can anyone recommend a closing company that can do this transaction.

Many Thanks,

I used Transfer My Timeshare (for a purchase in S.C.) and the gal's name was Laura Selway.
Everything went according to Hoyle and I had no complaints.

JRA Services

JRA Services is also licensed to do closings in SC. Very professional and easy to work with.

A very good real estate Atty is Peter Wolf on Hilton Head. I do not know if he does timeshares.

Qualey was the Atty who did our Marriott HP week . We bought resale through Marriott and that was the name on the closing ppwk.

Dave, the recording requires use of an attorney in SC now. The attorney fees are $400 minimum now because the state requires it. The attorneys can charge premium closing fees because they have the State law behind them.
Your $400 figure is incorrect. JRA charges less than that. Also, I used a SC attorney for selected services to close on my new SC home last month and the total fee was $350!

Further, Alan was still doing SC closings as of about six months ago. I don't know if anything has changed since then.

I don't know exactly when the laws changed but I am in the process of selling my Grande Ocean week and have spoken to one closing service that quoted 950 and several others, if they would do it were quoting over 1000. The buyer found an attorney on Hilton Head Island to do it for 580. There may be lower prices but 400 is much closer to correct than 100.

JRA charges $250 for a closing - it is on their website...and congrats on the new home :cheer:

I had contact with JRA regarding a SC closing just today. Because they have to contract out to a SC atty they charge $425 plust recording fees and transfer fees

I just used Janet for the first time - and would HIGHLY recommend her - fast, excellent communication - a real pleasure!

I used her recently too, and I am not so sure I would recommend her. Closing costs on my MSE week were $550, and it took 83 days from the time we signed the papers til the time Marriott recognized us (Contract sent in 11/16, ROFR waived on Nov 19, Closed on Dec 2, Marriott didn't get the paperwork until Jan 3, recognized by Marriott on 2/7. ). Not sure if it was the holidays that took so long, but I thought the cost was a little high too.
