Our first trip and not sure how much to budget for We will be in Vegas for 2 weeks and Sedona 1 week. I was sorta looking at $3000.00 for the 2 weeks in Vegas. We don't gamble but do want to see a few shows. and $3000.00 for the 1 week in Sedona as we plan to do several tours while there. We are going to do the Pink Jeep Tour, The Verde Canyon Rairoad tour and the hot air balloon tour none of which are exactly cheap. We will do a day trip to Grand Canyon with rental car. There will be 4 of us adults but each couple will be paying their own expenses except for the car and we will be splitting that. For those who have been to both places does this sound reasonable?

Thanks,

Suzanne

I assume you're staying in a timeshare and the $3000 doesn't have to cover your accomodations. So, for a couple that comes to $1500/wk or $750/person per week. Do you know which shows you want to see? I guess the first place to start would be to deduct the price of the show tickets. Then do you plan to eat in upscale restaurants or do you plan to fix some meals in the timeshare? Since you'll have a car you can take advantage of places to eat that aren't right on the Strip and you can drive to the grocery store. That will save some money.

Do you plan to drink? Alcoholic drinks will quickly increase the expenses unless you do your drinking back at the timeshare with wine & spirits purchased at the grocery store.

I'm not sure if I completely understood. If the total of 6K is for both couples you will have a good time. If it's for just you two and the other couple has their own money, you will have a REAL good time.

You mention 3k for 2 weeks in Vegas, shows average about $100/pp some more some less. Vegas is no longer the mecca of el cheapo buffets. If you are timesharing and eating some meals in, you'll be fine.

The above said, the same amount of $ for half the time in Sedona will (imo) be very generous- though I haven't priced balloon rides. You can usually get discounts on Pink Jeep or other tours, and a nice hike in the red rocks doesn't cost anything. Meals are for the most part more reasonable in Sedona than Las Vegas.

You may spend a little more than what you budgeted in Vegas, and less in Sedona. Mostly educated guess on my part.
Karen brings up a good point- I was assuming your lodging is not included in the 6K. If you are paying for lodging, you won't have quite as good a time.

3 weeks divided there sounds like a nice vacation.

Thank you. We are staying at the Flamingo Hilton for week one, week 2 is at the Arroyo Roble in Sedona and week 3 is back in Vegas at the Summer Bay, all three are timeshare units. Breakfast, snacks and some drinks would be in the unit. The Dollar Amount is just for the two of us. We don't usually go to the super expensive fancy restaurants. We pretty laid back, but we don't like buffets so will be eating dinners in the various restaurants on/off the Strip. The 2 shows we really want to see is Phantom of the Opera and the Cirque show 'O', otherwise we're pretty much open as to what else we may go see. There are lots of things we plan to see, but they are mostly free. Like Freemont Street at night.

Thanks again for your help.

You should do fine on your budget then and it sounds like a really fun trip. You might want to pick up some Restaurant.com certificates then for LV restaurants. The discount is 80% now through Aug. 31 and the code word is CLEARANCE.

One that I highly recommend is Memphis Championship Barbecue and the location on Warm Springs would not be too far from where you're staying. There are also several restaurants at Mandalay Bay on the Restaurant.com site.
