My son is somewhat mystified with my love for timeshares. His wife has never been to one but is willing to learn. She is taking an intensive course in LA for 6 weeks and he is flying down to join her afterwards and taking a few days for both of them to enjoy Disneyland. I offered to find them a nice timeshare and she would like that. Can anyone recommend a special resort. It is my treat so money is not an object. :D

The Villas at the Grand Californian with direct entrances to Downtown Disney and Disneyland's California Adventure Park.

Villas at Grand Californian would be the most "special" option, but it can be hard to secure reservations.

You can rent points for about $10-$15 per point and a 3 night stay in a studio would run between 51 and 104 points, depending on season and days of week booked.

I am an owner there (sorry don't have points to rent), can answer questions if you decide to go for this property.

The only other 3 that are close by:

Worldmark Anaheim
Peacock Suites
Dolphin's Cove

Worldmark and Peacock are walking distance, but they're both a long walk. I think most people use ART from those locations. Dolphin's Cove is a little farther -- you'd definitely want to drive or use ART.

One of the great advantages of Disneyland over Disneyworld is that, if you stay close enough, everything is a short walk. No friggin busses to worry about. But if you stay a little further, ART is a good compromise. Driving's OK, but the garages can get pretty backed up, especially in high season.

The Hyatt in Garden Grove, right near Anaheim, is in RCI for Platinum members. I would choose it, but the inventory is very limited.

If you have II, there is nothing in II that I have ever seen near Anaheim and Disneyland.

Dolphin's Cove is also walking distance - but probably a mile. The ART bus picks up on the next corner if you don't like to walk that far. We like Dolphin's Cove - it's a converted apartment complex so it's not glitzy, but it has roomy full-sized units and a big pool.
