Navigating Club Point Resort Availability (without having the points)

As a Vistana owner, I find it frustrating that I cannot see which units are available using club points without first electing to place my VOI into Abound.

I've tried using the basic "Book using club points" page on the MVC site to check overall availability, but then it apparently does not match true inventory?

For instance, looking at Lakeshore Reserve, I see this, showing plenty of check-in day options next January:

Then when I both chatted and called to try and identify which exact units were available (before I convert my StarOptions to Abound points), both reps told me there was no check-in availability at all for mid-end of January, and that I was just seeing "sample availability".

Has anyone else run into this? Is the online system availability not real-time? I just don't understand why it would say "available for check-in" on a variety of dates, when no inventory is available. (This is besides by frustation of not being able to actually view specicif unit types that might be available).

On the screen before this one, do you get the filters on the right that enable you to search by room type, per the screen below? If so, you can apply the filter for the 2 or 3 bed and then proceed to see the availability. I also have the filters on the right of the calendar screen you show above.

When you are on the calendar screen you show above, you can hover over the available date and it will tell you the number of points needed for that check-in date.

I don't have an club points available so can't get any further than you do, but can get down as far as check-in date, room type and view (if available)

When I check Check-In JAN-18 here I see 3BR availability.

When I check Check-In JAN-29 here I see 2BR availability.

I am getting the exact same availability using MVC Abound points when filtering for 2BR or 3BR. I do not have any points in my account right now, so like hindsite I cannot go further. However, I have never had the online inventory calendar not be accurate. I am not sure what the reps are talking about.

What do you mean "which exact units were available?" Maybe someone with a bunch of points can try, though this probably should eventually be moved to the sightings board with all this detail.

Well there you go.

Thank you all so much for checking - I tried to tell both reps this and they told me I was looking at it wrong or another owner booked it while I was looking. Was very disappointing...can't say anyone was too friendly either.

I wish MVC would let anyone get to this available unit types level - even if someone doesn't have the points yet. The rep on the phone even tried to tell me they couldn't check availability for me because I didn't have enough points. 🤨
When I check Check-In JAN-29 here I see 2BR availability.

Is it possible the rep is referring to this situation?
Here's an attempt to book 14 nights at the Maui Ocean Club. I don't have enough points to make the reservation. I can see there is Studio, 1BR & 2BR available. But, when I click on a specific date I get the message below (2nd screenshot). I can filter using the selection box on the right but I'm still not able to see the actual room configuration/type/layout (i.e., 2BR Master of a 3BR, etc.) I can't see that unless I transfer points (MVC) from a future year to meet the reservation requirement.

I agree, there is no reason for them not to. But even though you (or I) can't get to where @Mroze got (with the screen at bottom), you/we can still get the same information by using the unit type and view filters. I did this earlier this year when trying to add add onto a reservation and needed to confirm there was availability before I rented points.

The only time it matters is if there are different room variations within the same size category and it matters to you (like 2BR lock off vs single entry, etc.) You can't see this unless you have enough points.

We cross posted. Yes, but OP was told there is no availability, which seems incorrect.

If you filter (as I did below), you can confirm there is a 14 day reservation in a 1 bedroom oceanview for August 2025 (starting in white boxes). We don't know the particular configuration (if they vary), but we do know a 1BR OV for 14 days can be booked.

Yeah, the only thing you can't specifically see with this is if there are different 1BR unit types available. Like a dedicated 1BR or the 1BR side of a 2BR lock off. The same would be true if searching for a 2BR. You would know there is a 2BR available, but not if it was a dedicated 2BR, LO 2BR or 2BR side of a 3BR. If you have the required number of points then that is available when the checkin day is selected.

The thing about the gray and white boxes that confuse some people is that the white boxes indicate that you can check in on that date for the number of nights in your search. Gray doesn't mean it isn't available as a night you can stay during your stay. Some people see the gray and think their stay can't include that night. Gray just means that night can't be the first night of their reservation.

Yes exactly - I was trying to figure out the types of two and three bedrooms available (townhouse vs standalone vs lockoff etc) - so frustrating I can't just view that.

New one today: called again and got a new rep who was a bit more patient, and he first told me there was no availability in January at all except for one random date with a studio. I explained to him that I saw a very different calendar on my end, so he opened up the user-facing booking calendar and confirmed the same thing, and said if I elect for Abound points I should be able to see the unit type and book it. (He could not tell me the type of two bedroom available, though, for a 1/31/26 check-in.)

His only explanation for the completely different answers was that they have "two systems" they use, and sometimes inventory is released at different times to different systems. I pressed him on it and he said the discrepancy occurs relatively often - what in the world?!

He has no clue and just makes stuff up to think he is answering your question with something that makes sense. I wish customer service reps would just say they don't know when they don't know.
