Pretty exciting, it’s the first time. So I researched a bit and found out that this means I have been successful in raising her to reproductive maturity! Seems most people kill theirs within a year.

So now I will attempt to propagate her. There are apparently a few different ways and I’ll try em all.

There is a gnat season here that is annoying. I put Venus inside under a light and left for a few days. She seemed to have eaten all the gnats that had made it inside. I love this plant, most interesting thing I have ever grown. Would love to have several in order to keep some indoors and some out.

Very cool.

WOW!!! Great accomplishment!! You must be proud of yourself! (I would be.) Let us know if you're successful creating an army!!

I don’t think I knew that keeping a plant alive was a big accomplishment but maybe it’s that Venus is particular as to soil and water. I don’t know if propagation will work, but for sure I’d love to post a pic of a dozen cuties lined up in their own pots.

Action Video catching a horsefly!
That would be cool, but, haven’t seen any horseflies up here, not even down by cow pasture. Guessing they don’t appreciate mountain climate.

She might have finished it by now, but she had something with wings sticking out of the jaws.

I could maybe get a video of a daddy long legs getting each leg stuck in a different trap. Moderately gruesome but fascinating. Haven’t witnessed it, now i want to! Enough ddls around here that I could probably stage a slo mo capture.

If I could find a way for wasps and darned carpenter bees to be attracted, I’d love that. Eat that fat destructive bee! And have another, and another…
