Can someone tell me if what I'm looking for exists?
I own a contract with 4000 Abound points. I purchased from Marriott before I found this site so I paid ALOT! So far everything has worked well and we have enjoyed very nice vacations to Kauai, Oahu, Steamboat Springs, Breckenridge and Scottsdale. We are interested in purchasing more but I would really like to purchase a deeded fixed week that I can convert to points on years that I may not use it. I know that if I buy on the resale market that I can't opt into alternating back and forth between deeded and points. My question is...
1. If someone is selling a deeded week and has already paid for the option to enroll in the Abound point system, does that option transfer to the new buyer?
2. Does Marriott sell deeded weeks (fixed or floating) that can opt into the points program?

Specifically we would like a Hawaii week. Looking at Ko'Olina, Maui or Kauai. Sometimes we spend a full week but some years we like to split up the trip into 2 islands (less than 7 nights each). Thank you, Cindy

Abound rights do not transfer with deeded weeks. You can enroll a resale deeded week into Abound if you then buy points or weeks from Marriott, but it is expensive.

Marriott does sell deeded weeks that are enrolled in Abound, but I believe they are all in overseas locations which cannot be owned by the Abound trust for legal reasons. On a per point basis, these weeks are less expensive than buying points retail.

Resale legacy weeks are usually the cheapest way to go, if those legacy weeks get you the vacations you want. What are your travel goals with an additional week or additional points?

Hello Cindy - there are weeks you can buy directly from Marriott that are enrolled and like @vacationtime1 said, these are usually overseas (Caribbean and Spain as examples.) However there is also another option called bundled package where you can buy some points with an enrolled week. I was offered this during a virtual presentation from the sales office in Vail. Here were the options I was offered:

1) 2BR at Cypress Harbor (2,650 points) + 1,000 points (total 3,650) for $26k or about $7.12 per point.
2) 2BR at Grande Vista (2,775 points) + 500 points (total 3,275) for $22k or about $6.71 per point
3) 2BR at Shadow Ridge (2,325 points) + 500 points (total 2,825) for $17.6k or about $6.23 per point

Right now we vacation every other year to Hawaii. We used to own a condo on Maui which we sold in in 2016 bc our family outgrew it. We purchased points in Nov. 2022. We always go away for Easter break to a warm beach location. In the Fall we like to take a vacation to a non-beach location like a National Park, Mountain area or someplace new to explore. My husband owns an Heating/AC business so there are no winter vacations for us. Summer is short here in CT so we usually like to stay here and enjoy New England. My daughter is graduating and planning to go to the University of Hawaii in 2 years. My husband is going to work for 4 more years and my younger daughter has 6 more years of school. We would like to vacation as much as we can while we are still healthy and active. We just turned 50. I like the idea of going on vacation and knowing what building, room # and view I am going to get (At least for 1 vacation)

One approach would be to buy a deeded every other year unit in Hawaii. Or something that trades well into Hawaii (although that quickly becomes complicated). Marriott has timeshares on all four major islands but no internal trading system (other than Abound); Westin/Vistana has an internal trading system but has timeshares on Maui and Kauai only.

btw -- there are very few fixed unit timeshares -- where you get the same unit every year. By necessity, they will always be the same week every year as well, reducing flexibility. otoh, you can easily guarantee view category, just not the specific unit within that category.

If you want to purchase a week in Hawaii because you will go there every year or every other year for a week at a time in a single place, this is a good move. We aren't fans of changing islands in less than 7 days, as you waste a lot of down time. We just switch islands each trip. In fact, we think less than 10 days in Hawaii (incl. travel) is too short to adjust and relax. If you didn't want to go one year, you could reserve, trade back through II.

Also note you can rent points at just over MF if you ever need more in a year, with zero upfront costs.
