What are the pros and cons between these 2 resorts?

Are we silly for thinking of going mid Sept?

thx -

September is likely to be quite rainy and also pretty hot. That said we would still go in September.

This topic comes up fairly often, here is a not so old thread comparing the two along with the hotel.

And to add on to the thread mentioned by @dioxide45 - COVID restrictions are similar at the two resorts, though hopefully we'll be able to back them off a little by September. One family/person per elevator, masks mandatory inside and encouraged outside, food/beverage locations open with sit-down service but no bar seating. For what it's worth if you're an NFL fan Ocean Pointe has all the games at the bar area, too.

We own at Ocean Pointe and have also stayed at Oceana Palms. While Palms' villas are amazing, the property is very small without the beautiful landscaping of Ocean Pointe.

I think preference depends on what’s most important to you. We’ve been owners at Ocean Pointe since 2001, so we obviously enjoy Ocean Pointe. We also seriously considered purchasing at Oceana Palms pre-construction because we really liked how the units where layer out, it’s more of a high rise and the balcony’s are among the nest MVC has to offer.

Palms is more along the lines of a boutique hotel. The resort is small, the pool is small and mostly shaded but the feeling is upscale.

Pointe is more a destination resort with typical MVC units and small balcony’s, but the resort grounds are relaxing and there’s plenty of different spaces, large pools and lots of sunshine.

We like them both, just for different reasons. We’re not disappointed staying at either resort.

Nice review. I've always said that it is too bad that the Oceana Palms Villas weren't constructed on the Ocean Pointe footprint....

.

I agree with RJW and Dougp. I own at Ocean Pointe and have stayed at Oceana Palms. different feel. If you're traveling without kids, I think Palms might be a fine choice. With family, I'd go to Ocean Pointe.
