We are owners at Cypress Harbour and enrolled our week in the Destinations program years ago. We attended a sales presentation today in Hilton Head and the rep talked about the benefits of being a "hybrid" owner -- owning both a legacy week and trust points. Other than having the additional points in our portfolio and possibly being bumped up from Owner to Select level (which doesn't seem like a huge advantage to us) is there any advantage to being a hybrid owner?

One thing they talked about is some kind of airline benefit. Supposedly if you stay 5 nights at the same Marriott hotel, you get 100,000 miles credited to your airline account. I find that hard to believe. Are they confusing that with the 5-day travel packages which are only available to Marriott Vacation Club owners? Has anyone else heard of this?

There was so much misinformation given in that presentation that I don't know where to start. I've clarified everything else the salesperson misrepresented except for this. Thanks for all who can help.

P.S. They offered 300 DP or 40k Bonvoy points for today's presentation. Not bad, but not great.

No benefit to hybrid ownership other than more points and potentially higher owner status as you mentioned. 5 night comment is BS, they were seemingly blurring the 5 night travel package with a non-truthful spin.

You are already enrolled in the DC, so if you need additional points, you can rent them from other owners on an "as needed" basis without the financial commitment of purchase. See https://vacationpointexchange.com/

And if you really, really want to own points, you can buy them resale for a fraction of Marriott's price.

Going to executive is nice for the 13 month. Select is not that big a deal.
