Hello All

Was offered this upon exiting the Marriott World Center on the way back to Royal Palms. Our check in offer was just $150 for an update(own 2 Grande Vista resales) this seems better value and was told 18 months to use and no blackout dates. Anyone know of something might be inaccurate? I would consider after Xmas or mid March as my best value.

Thanks

Steve

I did something similar at Cypress Harbor but it was for 3 nights at $199. The only fine print was that there was an additional fee for holiday weeks. If you are going mid-March, you should be fine. I was also able to add extra nights at $199 per night.

It will require a timeshare presentation and as noted, there is probably some fine print about an upcharge for holidays. So while no blackout dates, it doesn't mean all dates are included for that price.

I forgot to mention the time share meeting requirement.

Also, the nights will not count toward Elite status.

I know about the presentation requirements and promised my wife we wouldn’t do them.….but I can equate 4 nights to be worth approx $900-1000 in march so that’s a net value of up to $700. The week we’re using now cost $297 so my wife is up to 50/50 decision wise. Just wondering if Myrtle Beach might have something similar that’s not an encore(did it in 2018)

Cypress Harbour shows up all the time on II for flex exchange, getaway and AC use. I would do that instead. 7 nights for similar price. And you get full benefits.
I would only use it for somewhere else (Not Orlando.)

Yeah, these packages aren't that good of a deal in Orlando and Encore Packages for places like Orlando and Palm Desert are the same. Too cheap to book through Interval International and you get the seven elite nights. While the Encore might come with 100,000 Bonvoy points, you will probably be invited to an owner update which will get between 30-40K. We now decline all Encore packages.

No I wouldn’t use this package for summer, maybe just March break where the cash rate is over $200 per night, never during late summer when the week can be had for nothing. Thanks for everyone’s comments

Maybe I missed something - 100,000 Bonvoy points is a bad deal? I would take it for a 4 nt stay plus 100,0000 Bonvoy points. Not sure what I'm missing.

100,000 Bonvoy points doesn't go far these days. We always opt for the Plus Points if they are in excess of 350.

I am comparing it to my alternatives. I can book a getaway for seven nights in a 1BR for about $350. When I get there, they will invite me on an owner update and give me 30,000 points for free. Just my time. I would have to spend the same amount of time with an Encore. If my Encore Package was $1000, I am spending $650 more for fewer nights but gaining 70,000 Bonvoy. Technically over the course of a couple years I could probably do three getaways and get 90K Bonvoy and 21 nights for the same or less money.

We finally attended our mandatory presentation at Grand Vista Sales Centre for the promo package I bought. Some highlights:
  1. Points will be going up to over $20 mid January, was supposed to happen end of December but Marriott wanted to defer until after holiday rush.
  2. Told him I split my 2 and 3 bedroom into 4 weeks a year and costs $1300/wk. with all upgrade and exchange fees, I don't need more than 4 weeks of timeshare.
  3. Weeks will disappear and I wont be able to do trades.
  4. When asked about an equity value for my 2 MGV resale weeks, he said no value. I then said shouldn't Marriott do these deals so more inventory in the points system he said it will be a 100 years before everything is converted from weeks to points. Kind of contradicts point #2 and exposes lack of inventory.
  5. When I asked to see summer 2025 inventory at Crystal Shores with his points he said he couldn't do that and he'd loose his Real Estate License. He and the closer only showed me points values for the summer.
  6. Told me I am paying too much in Maintenance fees and points are insulated from increases.
  7. Offered us 1,500 points at 10% off, equity in our promo package(was originally $1500 but closer told the sales guy he made a mistake), the standard 1,500 points Finance bonus 3,000 bonus points and at the end a 1 week in a 2 bedroom anywhere I wanted to use it with no alleged blackouts. He said he prefers we use it in Orlando but I had no restrictions.
  8. Sales guy was a liar and closer played the innocent type.
  9. Other lies.....too many to type.

With the current price at $17.72, they certainly won't be going up to over $20 this month. They might go up a few cents.

Also at the end of the presentation I feel they tried to shame us by asking why we attend so many presentations in so many locations. I said we've only attended twice since becoming resale owners. But the previous owner had 10-15 visits since early 2000's.

They ask us that every once in a while. Little do they know, they can only see the last 10!

"Lose my real estate license if I show you inventory" LOL...that's a new one. I've had reps show me their accounts more times than I can count. I actually learned something last time (and he was telling the truth).

He didn't want to show you the inventory for summer 2025 because there isn't any.

Yes I let him keep his license so he can continue fleecing customers.

You are there for the same reason he is there. Marriott pays us both to be here.
