Must weeks be exactly "consecutive" when booking at 13 months out?

As an owner at MOC and DSV1, I would like to book two reservations 13 months in advance using the "consecutive weeks rule". My question is: do weeks need to be exactly consecutive, e.g. both weeks start on Friday? OR could I book the first week on a Friday at MOC and the second week on a Thursday at DSV (which allows Thursday check-ins, while MOC does not)?

This may all sound strange to you that I would try to book a week in Maui on a Friday, and then seemingly plan to leave early and be in Palm Desert by Thursday of the next week. As you may have guessed, my plan is to change the Maui reservation at a later date but get the benefit of booking DSV 13 months out.

This is just my opinion - - the 13 month rule works for consecutive weeks and for the same week. Also the Marriott weeks start on Thursdays. So, from logic, they probably would be considered contiguous. The phone reps have some latitude - - so, if the first person doesn't agree with you, ask to speak to their supervisor. I suspect that you'll prevail.

Ive done this many times over the years. Just be sure you don’t cancel a week until it is past the 12 month check in. I’ve heard they could cancel the other week if you cancel too early. Play it safe.

I haven't done it but it's been reported routinely here for many years that it's the check in weekend, not the specific day that must be consecutive. For the first time this will be important to me for 2026 reservations so I reached out to MVC for clarification. Here's the applicable portion of their response.

  • To clarify, the start day of the week does not affect your ability to make consecutive or concurrent reservations using the 13-month option. Owners placing consecutive or concurrent reservations with two or more deeded inventories may place their reservations up to 13 months prior to the desired check-in date.
  • Reservations must check-in the same weekend but do not need to check in on the same day to be considered concurrent. For example, you can book one villa on Friday, July 3, and another on Saturday, July 4.

The consecutive weeks do not have to have the same checkin day to be considered consecutive. You can book any checkin day of a week and then any other checkin day of the following week.

Thank you all. TUGGERs are the best! Of course you all were correct: I just booked my Maui week for a Saturday check-in and my DSV the following week with a Thursday check-in. Thanks again!
