Mountainside Villa-Massanutten and SKi Side Village-Pa

I have a week reserved in Mountainside Villas at Massanutten October 28 - Nov 4, and also a week at Ski Side in Tannersville, Pa for the week of October 20th. I have been to Massanutten many times (my home resort) but not in Mountainside units, never been to Ski Side. If anyone has info on either of these two I would love to know as much as possible before I get there.

Particularly the Ski Side - my husband and I are taking our mothers. We will be spending one day taking the moms to Strasburg to the Sight and Sound Theatre. I would like to know if there are many steps to the units themselves, as both moms are in their late 70's. I would just like to be prepared and I know they would love any info they can get on the place - this is something they are really looking forward to.

Any info, about the units or special things to do with the moms would really be appreciated!!

I own at Ski Side Village but have never been. Use it as a trader.

All I can tell you is that you are going at a good time for the color.

The units are supposed to be large but I am afraid you may not find them in the best of repair. I do not know all the details but the developer basically stole from the homeowners and there was a court fight and of course various lawyers and banks that held the note were involved and the end result was that half the resort was sold off and the other half is now on sound financial setting and going in the right direction under our Homeowner director.

Like many owners of older resorts it was getting worn and tired. We just got hit with a special assessment for remodeling and unit upgrades. So, while I can not tell you about the steps I am afraid you might be a year early as they are scheduled for completion next summer.

They are still supposed to be OK but probably not great...yet,

Thanks for replying. I wont expect too much, then. Actually we really arent going for luxury this time. If it is just clean - we will be happy. Wont be there the whole week, I think we are going Oct 20th, Sunday we will spend most of the day at my brother's who lives in Tannersville, Monday we have free, Tuesday we are spending the day in Strasburg - probably coming home on Wednesday. The moms will NOT be picky at all, it is just a place to sleep, and have morning coffee.

Anyone else?? Ski Side in Tannersville or Mountainside Villas, Massanutten?

I have owned and stayed at Mountainside Villas....

....many times. Mountainside Villas are our favorite units. They are very large and well equipped. They are two story and most with many steps to the unit. There's a great spa room downstairs with large 2-person jacuzzi and sauna. The bedrooms are upstairs; one with queen and the other with two twin beds. There is a separate check-in from the rest of the Massanutten units. I have always found the units clean and everything in good working order.

That is great to hear!! I have been very happy with each unit I have stayed at Massanutten, so I really would have been surprized to hear any different - but I always like a little reassurance. I am fairly sure my husband wont be too happy with the many steps - but he will just have to adjust!
