Just got back from staying at Westin in St John so I'm pretty excited about the St John villa option. Such a beautiful island with great jumping off point for other Virgin islands.

This is interesting -- will look forward to learning more but this would be an appealing use of points if accessibility is reasonable and this isn't just marketing. My email referenced Palmilla (Cabo San Lucas), Hart Bay (St John), Tuscany, Amalfi Coast and Anguilla -- and others. All are interesting destinations, very curious to learn more.

Best,

Greg

I see there is now a link from the my-vacationclub website to

The options seem to range from 1000 VCP per night through to from 74,500 VCP per night for a 25 bedroom private island off Grenada - I really must book this quickly whilst there is still availability!

I was pretty excited about this until I looked at the villas on the Amalfi coast. Seriously, 9000 pts per night? I wasn't aware that Donald Trump, Michael Bloomberg and the Koch brothers were tuggers.

I did find one property for only 2200 pts per night but you have to walk up 152 steps to get to the front door. I suppose they could market it as a health spa.

I think this is a very creative addition -- it's not for everybody, but it certainly offers variety. If you search the Caribbean for a 2BR, there's everything from 10,000 VC points per night to 500 VC points per night. 500 VC points for Barbados may be an opportunity.

For the Big Island, there are both 2BR and 3BR properties with the Kolea complex -- coincidentally, I looked at a 3BR in Kolea in February when we were there and it is a very nice facility. I think the 2BR is 1,000 points per night and a 3BR is 1,500 points.

That's not bad, considering there currently is no DC option on Big Island (or Barbados) and this offers access to us. For comparison, the Kolea home was selling for $1.1M and the Kolea broker told us the homes rent for $3,500 - $4,000 per week for the 3BR, so cash may be superior to 10,500 points, but they both have their place.

Interesting addition, I like the creativity and hope it stays, even if I never personally use it.

Best,

Greg

We have a giant family, regularly have Sunday dinners with 20+ of us all together. I can seriously envision a once-in-a-lifetime trip where we use DC Points for multiple units where they're available, or, for a single large villa as a home base with additional nearby hotel-like rentals. I'll bet that kind of planning would fit right in with the included concierge services.

What's interesting to me is that MVW appears to have contracted with this provider to offer an extensive network of high-quality properties, as opposed to the Hilton Head house affiliation which is only a single-property contractual arrangement. I like that they're exploring either affiliation (and that there are probably other creative ones in the pipeline) but think that there's probably more security for a longterm affiliation with this provider.
