I’m supposed to fly from NYC to Havana in late March for a snorkeling trip to Cuba. I plan on taking JetBlue. I hope the flight will be operable by then.
Isn't travel fun these days!?! It's become like playing the roulette table. Will your flight get cancelled? Will they change the entry (or return) requirements? Can you get test results in time? Will there be another Covid variant surge?
We are scheduled to fly on WestJet from Toronto to St Maarten in two weeks. WestJet has just announced it is having to cancel 15% of its shceduled flights in January and maybe February, due to reduced staffing levels. Will we be affected? Who knows!
I hope things have improved by late March and that your flight and trip go off without a hitch. We booked this trip almost a year ago, when we couldn't fly down last year. I had assumed (hoped?) that with vaccines being distributed we should have no significant issues by now. I was obviously wrong, so can empathize with your concern, Carol!
We can isolate in the spacious condo there for the five weeks if we have to, and the weather is certainly better than here at home, but we want to be able to go out and about and enjoy the multitude of great restaurants. However, we are really starting to have second thoughts about going.
We have been hoping the Omicron surge might have shown signs of easing off, but so far it is doing the opposite. It isn't helped by the much lower vaccination rates on the island, lots of reports of lax protocols, especially in restaurants, and a jammed airport both arriving and leaving due to the ongoing, endless renovations.
It is now causing us to seriously wonder if it is all worth it, or should we just say to h*ll with it and cancel? Travel is supposed to be fun, not stressful!
