Moment nightmare 'Karen' cuts down neighbour's fence with a CHAINSAW

  • A resident was shocked when a neighbour cut down a fence without permission
  • They said 'Karen' and her husband are known for causing chaos in the area
  • But when they began cutting down a shared fence, they said 'this needs to stop!'

I know it is now common useage, but on behalf of my late wife and all the other "normal" Karens out there, I wish they would find another way to refer to overly-entitled, rage-driven women.
I think their is a word to describe this type of person, but it is no longer pc to say b****. I know a lot of nice Karens.

Yeah, I've known some very nice women named Karen, and I feel bad for them every time I hear it used this way.

"John" would like to have a word about how awful it can be to have a name repurposed as a different noun or verb.

I don't feel sorry for the Karens in the least. They can speak to a manager. ;-)

Imagine if it were names popular with different races being used? But using Karen seems to be ok by the woke and others.

The best part about "Karen" is that it gets under the skin of people with skin so thin it may as well be translucent. It must be quite a workout, clutching pearls that often.

Wow! Unless I have misinterpreted what you were trying to say, that certainly sounds both arrogant and more than a little self-righteous. Unbelievable!

Let's see -- we have John for both toilets and the solicitation of prostitutes. Bob, Bernice and Molly for drugs. Peter for genitals. Charlie shot at us. And now we have Karen and Chad for entitled, spoiled, pampered princesses.

Only Tony gets to have any sense of satisfaction about the slang. But I'm sure Joe doesn't mind being synonymous with coffee. Or Benjamin with $100 bills.

The only difference is that old people didn't grow up with Karen or Chad. But they're perfectly happy taking a trip to the John after their cup of Joe.

So what's your point? Again, all you are saying is that two wrongs somehow make a right. You constantly rave at people who don't agree with your thinking, and seldom with any sensitivity. You seem to be going through life with a giant chip on your shoulder. What a sad way to live. Your fuzzy, arrogant, judgmental thinking on these forums is becoming legendary, and you're not even a member.

You're all-knowing and the seeming expert on everything, but why be supportive and spend the paltry $15 to spew your vitriol and hatred, since you can do it for free. Amongst other things, you just insulted my late wife, who's barely been gone a year, so I for one have had enough. I've just found someone to put on my "ignore" list, not that you will care, but it will save me having to listen to your blathering any longer.

I get it. I have several friends with that first name that don't fit the caricature.

Karen is accepted slang as the term for a type of unpleasant middle aged white woman. I think people can distinguish between people they know named Karen and the stereotype.

Just as (mentioned) John.

As well as Dick has negative connotations, but I certainly do not assume any Richard I meet is a terrible person because the nickname is slang for something else. Same with a "right Charlie" or other names.

I understand how people named Karen (or Dick etc) can be tired of the association, hopefully it will become dated and fall from use.

Yes, it may be similar to other names, like John or Dick, but the use of Karen seems quite different. John or Dick can be applied to any male that fits the description. They can be of any age or race. That doesn't make it right, but it is quite different.

Karen is used to describe someone of a specific race, age group, and sex. That makes it not just derogatory, but as @CrazyPanda stated, racist, ageist and sexist, which moves it closer to a hate category. The sexist is less of an issue, because just as John and Dick would only normally be applied to a male, Karen would only be applied to a female, by definition.

There are lots of women (and men) that are outside the specific demographic but that otherwise fit the stereotype of the typical "Karen", as used in the epithet. However, they for some reason are excluded, because apparently only older, white women can be overly-entitled, obnoxious, and loud. There lies the crux of my argument against the comparison to other generic "names", and my intense dislike of the use of the name in the first place.

I think Karen will be with us for a long time. It's caught on in a way that "Charlie the VC fighter" never did. Call someone Charlie, unless it's in a movie about the Vietnam war, and all you'll get is confusion. As for Karen and Chad, this goes all the way back to the antebellum South -- when "Miss Ann" and "Mr. Charlie" were the perpetually aggrieved.

Best of all, the slang is doing some good -- the CAREN act, which makes calling 911 on people just trying to enjoy a barbecue or go bird watching a crime. And it gives people a way to shut down indignant behavior with a simple "OK, Karen." (Or escalate it.)

The people who are against this probably don't know Jack.

When some one asks you to stop because of a personal reason as in their spouse recently passed, but you continue on and on, it makes me hope that karma kicks your ass.

Thanks, Bill. I can't see what he wrote, because he is now on "ignore" and I have no interest in reading it anyway. He loves to give it out, but can't stand to be called on it. So I can easily imagine what he has said. He does this all the time. This guy has no manners, couth, or human decency, and seems to have been raised by someone with an EQ of zero, and the trait has obviously been passed on.

That's why I and uncountable other TUGgers have set Scoop on "Ignore." It's easy! Just click his name in the left column, and then the Ignore button. Poof!
