I have been unable to place a request in II for MMO for next summer 2023. I called II then chatted with MVCI. Does anyone have any info on the closure/renovations. Have a request in for MM1 but if major construction pool closures will change my request. Thanks for any info.

From MVCI chat: "Thank you for your patience. We do apologize for the inconvenience, but Interval International with not be accepting exchanges for Marriott's Maui Ocean Club (MMO) from June 3, 2023, to May 31, 2024, due to renovations on the property."

I've never heard of that but maybe some percentage of rooms cannot be occupied so they are saving for owners? Otherwise, if it's just a pool closure, that sounds doesn't make sense, since they've never reduced capacity for that.

We were at a sales session there in June 2022, the sales guy said they were about to fully renovate the rooms at Maui Ocean Club since before it was only the hotel conversion. What he said was they'd start THIS Summer and be finished by December 2022 and that they were doing it in phases so not to pull too many rooms from availability. Well based on your chat above, it seems we got 'sales' information which means not correct info perhaps or they've changed their plans but it seems that's what this is about.

We just booked into a 1-bedroom at MMO for December thru II. I swear that during the exchange process, the unit was listed as having a full kitchen, but the resort confirmation shows limited kitchen. I don't suppose the reno upgraded MMO units to include full kitchens, huh?

No reno yet at MMO. The mini kitchen has an apartment sized frig, dishwasher, and microwave.

The hard/soft goods reno was scheduled for 2024-2025, but given the issues on Maui now and for the foreseeable future, that may be delayed indefinitely. If and when it does happen, though, no plans for full kitchen at MMO. There are long term plans that, when the mini kitchen comes up for reno in the 2027-28 time frame, they are now adding to reserves to hopefully fund adding a two burner cooktop during that future refresh.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. We originally booked a 2-bedroom at Sands of Kahana back in January, but we're willing to give up the extra bedroom (traveling with our 2 teenage boys) for the nicer resort. Even if it means a limited kitchen and no washer/dryer. Just have to spend more time at the beach/pool! And maybe we'll get lucky and a two-bedroom unit will open up and we can retrade.
