Mizner Place or Vacation Village at Weston?

The last couple of years I have been taking a week by myself over Spring Break (my kids are on community service trips/hubby is working) primarily because we have weeks to use up, but also because I enjoy the time to get away by myself.

I decided late this year and have limited choices. Last year, I went to Myrtle Beach, which was nice, but cold and rainy.

This year, I have settled on Weston, FL. - hoping for warmer weather. I have available Mizner Place or Vacation Village at Weston. I am tempted by Mizner because of it's location to the mall (I like walking) - but I will have a car so I can easily drive there if I need to.

I would spend my time working (can work from anywhere), lounging at the pool. shopping, walking, seeing a movie or two, etc. I do like to be where there is some activity - not looking for a solitary vacation.

I have a 1 BR A-side (full kitchen) unit on hold at Vacation Village. Currently, there are only B-side units available at Mizner. I can probably wait and hope that something else opens up at Mizner - or just be content with Vacation Village.

Any opinions on either of these resorts - especially for a female traveling mostly alone (I do have some family in the area who will come by at some point).

At our last stay (now over 5 years ago) Mitzner had far less to offer on site and felt rather unfinished. It may have improved but VV is well established and offers every feature possible. We didn't mind the drive to the Mall at all as it is so huge we would never walk there anyway. And many things in the area really require a car so it's almost a must no matter which you choose. We do like the area and it is almost always warm. We prefer the Weston area to the on beach resorts as by comparison they are older, smaller and generally not as nice. They depend on location while the Weston area uses features to be attractive. We just drive down & enjoy the beach by day & the resort the rest of the time. Enjoy!

Weston area is great!

We go to Weston approx 3 times per year, staying in Mizner. In fact we booked 3 extra vacation weeks for Feb 2014 as soon as they were posted.
Why? Love the location for quick access via 75 to friends in SW Miami and friends in Naples. Love the shopping in Pembroke Pines and their mall there plus the Broward Mall in Sunrise. The Weston area is upscale and very attractive. The restaurants there, Pembroke Pines, and Sawgrass areas are very good. It is a quick walk across the street from Mizner to the Town Center. The "B" side for one person is fine as it is only slightly smaller with a smaller balcony, queen bed, cook top, no oven or D/W. Big plus is parking in an attached garage on the same floor as your condo. Luxury...no, but very nice.
We always go over Pres's Week for 2-3 weeks in Feb, this year 2/8-2/22, for all the great events going on in S. Fla. Price is right compared to what we used to spend on A1A on the beach in a hotel room! Can get to beach in 15 min.
