wish it mentioned the company he worked for!

same old song and dance with every one of these schemes....but it wont ever end if this is the sort of penalty for ripping off timeshare owners! at this point its a license to print money.

The OCDC lists incidents of this fee sharing agreement and how it impacted Akers’ clients who paid thousands of dollars for his assistance in cancelling their timeshares, only for the money to be shared between himself, his employee and the third-party company.

Unusual to find actual attorneys working with these scammers (although they often hold themselves out to be attorneys).

a little birdie sent me a good bit more information on this! hope to have the company name here this evening!

Boy, it sounds like the court was handed a whole lot of hogwash by this guy's attorney:

kers was represented by attorney Tim Davis of the Davis Brothers Law Firm in Branson. Davis wrote in his brief for Akers that the timeshare practice worked two ways: The first was that Akers would negotiate with the time share companies directly on his client’s behalf; the second was that he would “arrange for clients to sell their timeshare interests to third-party Points Consolidators whose business is to acquire these properties/memberships and, in turn, rent out vacation weeks to paying customers.”

“David’s clients who transferred their timeshare interests to Points Consolidators were spared tens of thousands of dollars in future liabilities for timeshare dues and assessments,” Davis added.
I seriously doubt that was actually happening.

Article is behind a paywall for me.

Wow. There are allegedly all these third-party points consolidators out there who want to BUY BUY BUY timeshares in order to rent them out. Who knew?

Seems like they could just place ads indicating their interest in doing just that and they'll be deluged with non-stop offers immediately. Why work in secrecy only through this attorney?

Well, if only they see through the root cause of the numerous timeshare owners dilemma on getting a graceful and legal exit from their timeshares, attys like these will
Not exist. The system has to be fixed. Especially for timeshare companies like ours (Massanutten) who does not accept buy back program and yet they are building more units to sell to new customers. They just don’t know what they are getting into. Years ago, when we got our timeshare (2006), there was no airbnb yet. But now, best to get an airbnb for vacation purposes.
We demand change and action hopefully soon.
