I had never caught COVID, until a month ago in London when we were on a Collette tour. I caught it from a couple sitting behind us in the tour bus, whom the Tour Manager told us that they had COVID after I came down with it. They were coughing the whole time when they sat behind us. I didn't wear a mask because, heck, I had been fully vaccinated and boostered (5X) and thought I was invincible. The couple was going to "shadow" the trip, by taking a train to Wales (next stop after London) and joining the tour group in hotels and places of interest. They were as selfish as they come. Anyway, I self-quarantined for 5 days, per British rule, before getting a flight home, masking up throughout.
I had mild flu-like symptoms and the fever went off after 2 days. At the end of 5 days, I started to develop a cough. It wasn't bad and I never had a sore throat throughout. Well, that cough got worse and never went away. So a month after I caught COVID, I am still coughing, because of an itchy and raw throat. It keeps me up at night. I got an X-ray, all clear, and my PCP referred to an Infection Disease Specialist. Anyway, the ID Specialist said a bad chronic cough after recovery is very common with the latest strain of COVID. I just started on a course of oral steroid and I am supposed to feel better by the weekend. I hope so. This is the most miserable that I have felt in many years.
