Microsoft is Pulling the Plug on Internet Explorer 8, 9, and 10 Next Tuesday - by James Vincent/ Microsoft/ Tech/ The Verge/ theverge.com

"Microsoft is ending support for Internet Explorer 8, 9, and 10 next week on January 12th, releasing a final patch encouraging users to upgrade to one of the company's more recent browsers. The end of support means that these older versions of Internet Explorer will no longer receive security updates or technical support, making anyone who uses them much more vulnerable to hackers. A recently-announced patch will deliver the last few bug fixes, as well as an "End of Life" notification telling users to upgrade to IE 11 or Microsoft Edge — the company's successor to Internet Explorer, built for Windows 10..."

And no George, I don't own stock in Microsoft

Is this another way forcing the public to go Windows 10?

Really? Who cares? There are plenty of less buggy, less bloated, faster browsers available, with add ons so one doesn't have to be annoyed by pop-up ads and click bait. Time was, IE was the first thing I uninstalled from MS. After they unbundled it from the OS, I just never installed it. Chrome or FF for me.

A couple of days ago Excel started puking during copy-and-paste operations. Following someone's advice in a thread at in Microsoft's help forum, I uninstalled IE 11, and the problem disappeared immediately.

That's right. Even Microsoft's own products conflict with each other.

Agreed! I would recommend that anyone using any version of IE switch to Chrome or Firefox. IE is such a dog, Microsoft started from scratch and developed the Edge browser. Edge is fast, but incompatible with many web sites.

For a long time I was using the latest numbered version of IE (not Edge). One day I said to myself "This is slow" and tried FF. It is at least 4-5 times faster. Maybe it is my laptop this is the truth. I use Chrome at the Library. It too is faster.
