We will be staying on Hutchinson Island and want to spend a day seeing Miami. Looking for food, may have bikes, love to snorkel (don't think it is an option though). I am looking for recommendations for what to see and do.

We are looking for something authentic (Cuban food).

Two thoughts... www.tripadvisor.com and www.frommers.com
There actually are some good ideas to be found in guides.

Do spend some time at Viscaya. http://www.miamidade.gov/vizcaya/
There's also Parrot Jungle Island. http://jungleisland.com/

The best cycling area is on the tree-lined streets of "Coconut Grove" (in its
the business district and South of Viscaya). There's some great eats, too.

Key Biscayne with the Cape Florida State Park and Crandon Park would
also be good for cycling. http://www.key-biscayne.com/about/

Biscayne National Park, to the South, offers snorkel trips. The park's coral
reefs are approximately 10 miles from the mainland, so visiting the reefs
will require a boat. The park's concessioner offers snorkel and dive trips.

Cuban food is everywhere here in Miami but Versailles is probably the most famous and is really pretty darn good and reasonably priced.

Here are some other good ones:

Sergio's

La Carreta

La Casita.

And if you really want to get a taste of the true Cuban experience:

As for snorkeling, I think you'd probably want to go down to the keys for that as Miami isn't known for snorkeling. I guess you could do it but you'll probably want to go to John Pennekamp in Key Largo for that but that's about another 1-1/2 hours from Miami so you'd probably want to overnight if you do decide to do that or leave real early.

Have fun. :hi:

Thanks all. I have pics of myself at Parrot Jungle as a child. Might be fun to see it again.

Parrot jungle has a new home in Watson Island on Miami Beach, it's no longer in Pinecrest.
