Do not buy a timeshare

A timeshare purchase is never a good idea. Some people buy them with the idea of a financial investment, but a timeshare is not a good investment at all. Besides, there are lots of fees involved.

You are making a sweeping universal statement based on your personal experience. A lot of people derive value from timeshare ownership. Some of those happy people even paid full price. Certainly, the value equation is much higher if the timeshare is purchased resale. $20K for something that can be had between free and $2K certainly doesn't meet my parameters, but believe it or not, others have been happy to pay it.

Interval has Getaways to Suites Berna Doce in Mexico City from now through next May. 1 and 2 BRs with limited kitchens. However, they're only available as Getaways so they're not timeshares that can be owned.
