I am very unhappy with the memebership fee of 240.00 that was added to my yearly maintenance fees. I own at the Sheraton Vistana Villages.
I have been very unhappy with the significant increase in maintenance fees over the years and now I see an added membership fee.

It is the Abound membership dues that replaces the VSN fee you used to pay. That membership fee also covers your II membership. You no longer have miscellaneous a-la-carte fees for your ownership like a cancelation fee or a guest fee or a cleaning fee. This isn't new. 2023 was the first year of Abound membership dues for VSN owners.

Yes, post #4 shows all fees by ownership level in the lower right hand corner.
Select/Owner were billed $230 with their 2023 Maintenance fee and $240 with their 2024 Maintenance Fee.

As Chairman:
$295 for 2024
$307 for 2023

It's never been $307. Perhaps in 2023 it was included in your Hawaii VOIs maintenance fee bill and included taxes and this year it is included in your Kierland VOI and no tax applies?

If someone owns a Vistana week and an enrolled week at Marriott, do they pay 2 Abound fees?
As long as all the ownerships are deeded the same, then only one Club Dues fee.

Not Kierland, it is our WKORV OFD bill (our 1st TS)
For the 2023 WKORV MF Bill the amount shown is $307.27 for Chairman Club Dues
For the 2024 WKORV MF Bill it shows $295 for Chairman Club Dues

Exact same bill format.
So… they owe me a refund?

It did look like added HI tax for 2023 (assumed it was), but no HI tax for 2024?

The difference is 4.17% - is that the HI tax rate?

I believe Hawaii sales tax is only 4%. I think Maui County adds another 0.5%. Neither of those numbers come out to what you were billed in 2023 and if it is taxes I am not sure why they would drop the tax this year.

The question is then - were other WKORV (or Maui) Owners charged an additional 4.166% for their Club Dues in 2023 over 2024?
And if so (or not) - Why?
New Thread I guess...

Not sure if it's tax related or just Marriott changing fees. Our 2023 Executive dues charged against our WKORVN IV were $281.25 and for 2024 they are $280.00.

Just FYI, Hawaii does not have a sales tax, they have a General Excise Tax which applies to all sales revenue received. This includes a tax on the tax itself, since it's a tax on the seller, not on the buyer, and any "sales tax" the seller collects is just part of the sales price as there is no statutory basis for a separately-collected tax.

So it's most accurate to use a figure of 4.167% when figuring the "sales tax" in Hawaii, because that will give you the actual tax amount.

For example, let's say you buy something that's $100. The 4% tax would be charged on the $100 ($4) but then also on the $4 (16¢) and then also on the 16¢, etc. So 4.167% is the real impact of the tax and it's what stores, etc. use when adding GET to your purchase.

I think, but am not sure, that the County of Maui tax is figured similarly.

Makes sense, but does not explain why tax was charged for 2023 Club Fee, but not 2024.

Hmm, didn't notice ours was the same scenario

2023 had the 4.x% tax added to membership fee on WKORV bill as it has for ~20yrs, 2024 did not
