Member discounts for reservations at Royal Resorts (Cancun)??

We are travelling to Cancun next month, and are looking for a suite/condo rental that includes a Kitchen. Royal Resorts seem to offer a few choices that meet this requirement.

We are staying from a Monday to Monday, and are looking for 3 units. For these reasons, renting a condo directly from "Royal Resorts" seems to be the only workable option.

Do members of "Royal Resorts" get any special discounts when renting directly from "Royal Resorts"? If yes, can any owner help us with getting a discounted booking?

Thanks in advance.

More than you asked, but.....

All Royal Resorts villas are two-bedroom lockoffs that can be split into the Master suite side (bedroom with KS bed, bath, walk in closet, dressing area, living room with Twin drop-down Murphy beds, dining area, full kitchen, and large terrace) and the Lockoff side (bedroom with 2 doubles, bath, walk in closet, dressing area, mini-fridge and coffee pot, and small balcony). I don't know how many people you are considering putting in each, but the Master side sleeps four and the Lockoff sleeps only two.

All Royal Resort villas run from Saturday to Saturday. If you are planning on Monday to Monday, unless you are renting from someone who owns the SAME unit for two consecutive weeks and is willing to (possibly) forgo renting their first two and last five nights, you will have to move to a different villa on Saturday. Especially if you are renting three villas, this could get pretty complicated. I strongly recommend that you try to change your plans for Saturday to Saturday.

You will find less expensive rentals on the TUG marketplace than renting directly from the Royal Resorts. Here, you are renting directly from the owners (members), generally not from a company. Yes, owners get a discount on rentals when renting from the developer, but it is not a discount that we can pass along. Other sources for renting directly from owners include redweek.com, vrbo.com, and royalweek.com.

If you need three units, I suggest that you EITHER try to find all three at The Royal Sands OR at any of the Tri-Royals - The Royal Mayan, The Royal Caribbean, and The Royal Islander. The Sands is separated from the Tris by a roughly ten minute shuttle ride, but the shuttle runs only a few times an hour, while the Tris are all together.

Booking from Monday to Monday will be very difficult. Sat. to Sat. is what is the norm for the Royals. An owner gets a 10% discount on all rentals. So if you know an owner, they could rent for you, then fill out an owner loan form. Or, they could give you a guest certificate for the units, but, this costs extra, $49 each I think...These units are still pricey. There are some companies (not affiliated with the resorts) that specialize in renting out Royal properties which may be a better alternative.

Thanks for the detailed responses....it's very much appreciated.

Is this true at the Royal CIC as well?

We are a group of 3 families (4 people in each family) -- so, we would need 3 units (at least 2 units)

Due to some scheduling constraints, staying from Sat-to-Sat is not an option for us & the dates are already finalized :-( ; we did check the Tug marketplace, vrbo & royalWeek - didn't have much luck finding 2+ owners with 2 weeks (for the dates we want)

Royal Resorts is currently offering 2bd/1ba villas at the "Club Internacional de Cancun" for less than $900/week. This is an option that we are considering. But, I've read that CIC is older & seems like it'll be convenient to stay at the one of Tri-Royals (since kids can try out all 3 resorts). The Tri-royals are quite a bit more expensive when renting directly.

Anyone know of the names of these companies?

Is this [the layout] true at the Royal CIC as well?

There are several different layouts at the Royal CIC. Go to royalresorts.com, then under Resorts Collection choose The Royal Cancun, then on the left Villas, and you'll see the layout.

You could also consider renting three Sat-Sat weeks from three owners, just go on Monday, and then rent the last two nights - Saturday and Sunday - at a hotel such as the Omni. Last time I rented there from Travelocity it was around $160/night for a regular hotel room with two beds (2 adults + 2 kids), and included an excellent brunch buffet for everyone. It's next door to The Royal Mayan.

Another idea is to check the airlines for the change fee - it might be worth it to avoid the hassle of trying to find partial weeks and moving on Saturday.

Will they offer the $900 price for Monday-Monday? There are a number of developer-owned units at CIC, so it is possible they may be able to get you into the same units for the two back-to-back partial-weeks, so you wouldn't have to move. (There are very very few developer-owned weeks at the other Royals, so you likely will not be able to get into the same units for back-to-back partial-weeks.) CIC is older but has been completely refurbished. The Royals have superb maintenance. However, the pools are much smaller and the beach is kind of a "baby beach," very flat and unless you only have little kids it won't be as much fun. It's a lovely resort, but has a quite different "feel" compared to the others. With kids, I think you'll likely enjoy either The Sands or The Tris more.

Unfortunately, I don't know any owner :-(

The sites I listed before - Redweek.com etc - also there's Vacation Club Rentals in San Antonio. Both ISCO (The Royals' management wing) and VCR rent units that are deposited by the owners for rental, returning to the owners a percentage of the proceeds.

That's a good thought. We would be open to this option

Yes

Within the group, we have kids aged from 8 months to about 11 years :)

What dates are you looking for?
Feb/21th to Feb/28th (we would be open just taking Feb/21st to Feb/26th, and then moving into a different hotel)

$900 a week is a good price and young kids like you have listed would be happy at the Club International de Cancun. You could spend a day or afternoon at the Sands for the huge pools (free shuttle but it only runs a few X a day).

See if ISCO has any M-M availability in the same villas at CIC, so you won't have to move on Saturday. Even if you do have to move on Saturday, it's not a huge deal...you just have to pack most of your stuff (you can leave clothes on hangers and put misc loose things in shopping bags, so you don't have to pack perfectly).....they will send staff to move your things for you.

For what it's worth redweek.com has 2bdrm units available at Royal Caribbean (3) & Royal Mayan (5)... Feb 19 to 26...

Price range $950 to $1200...... It getting close to date.. They may come down in price... These are private owners..

Both have very nice kiddie pools. If you go this option, it is not necessary that all of you stay at the same one as they are interconnected.

What is ISCO? I couldn't find much (recent) info about them. Where can I find their contact info? I will check out RedWeek as well.

ISCO is the Royals business office in Florida. It is really called Interval Servicing, and can be reached at www2.intervalservicing.com or 1-800-930-5050.

I called ISCO...they connected me to the central Royal reservations office.
BTW, can anyone compare/contrast the Royal Resorts with a condo at the Porto fino Bay View Grand (in terms of location, beach, amenities, etc)?

This becomes a bit confusing. Puerto Fino is a condo development in Puerto Adventuras, quite nice, on the Marina with beach access. Bay view Grande is a group of 5 of 20 story condos in Cancun selling for $1,200,000 a pop, on the beach, very impressive. You can rent at either, they are not the same place. You cannot compare these to a Royals timeshare. They are in a very different league.

Of the Royals Club Internacional de Cancun is probably the best shot since there are so many developer units there now.
