Meet 'Moose Milk,' the Wintry Cocktail of the Canadian Military

We have to have some fun up here in the winter!! I will admit to having had my share of Moose Milk over the years. The recipe shown is a somewhat different version of the traditional Moose Milk I am used to, since it adds coffee and leaves out the eggs. Every service and/or unit seems to have a different version. It also often depended upon what ingredients were available at the time.

It should ideally be made with either rum or Canadian rye whisky. If the rum is Newfoundland Screech even better!! The RCAF version (see below), which I am most familiar with, usually uses a mix of both whisky and rum. Yum. Yum. You have given me some inspiration for doing up a batch for Christmas.

Cheers everyone!!

I think I'll give it a try this Christmas -- and will be sure to raise one up for you!

egg yolks, sugar, Kahlua

I'll pass

The Kahlua is often omitted, but without the eggs and sugar it definitely is not the same. It's certainly not low-cal, and like many things, it tastes much better than it sounds. In these northern climes we need the extra energy to stay warm in winter! At least that's how I rationalize it. LOL. ;)

Mais, à chacun son goût.

Sounds liked a drink to enjoy for the holidays. I am going to try it. I liked the tipsy part. LOL:LOL:
