We will be staying at the Mayflower in Washington D.C. next month and wanted to get some suggestions on parking. We will only be there for one night and I wanted to know if the onsite valet parking is the only option for parking at or nearby the Mayflower? I looked at the Mayflower website and see what seems to be two valet parking prices of $34 or $59 overnight. If someone could clarify what the actual costs are for parking and if valet is the only option at the Mayflower and if there are other parking options nearby that would be appreciated.

I have parked in the PMI garage right across the street from the back entrance of Mayflower. I used spothero.com and I paid under $30 a night. I needed it for the in/out priviledges. I just looked and no in/out anymore. There are garages that are under $20 close by for one nights parking.

1725 Desales St. NW closest $28
1100 Connecticut Ave. NW is 2 blocks away and only $15

I used spothero a few years ago at the Mayflower and it was cheap and afforded us in and out privileges. Highly recommend it.

Just spent several days at the Mayflower. While we enjoyed the hotel and it's location a lot, but I refused to pay $59/night to park.

As a result, we paid $68 total for three days via Spothero to park at the garage right across the street. Saved us $109 over the three days!

We parked here.
1730 Desales St. NW, which is the same garage as 1725 Desales St NW.

It is literally RIGHT across the street from the Mayflower, like a 2 min walk. No brainer here.

A couple notes on that garage.

1. No In/Out privileges. Fine for us, given we walked and took transit everywhere, but could be an issue for others.
2. Height restrictions. If your vehicle is much higher than 6ft tall, it will not fit. There are 8ft tall garages not too far away.
3. Valet parking only.

Sometime between March 2017 to Feb 2018 that desalle garage did away with in/out parking. It was the only garage close by Mayflower that offered it for under $50 a night.

The garage is literally across the street behind the mayflower.

Did you use the concierge lounge? There was a decent breakfast and good place for an evening drink and apps. Liked the fact we could get water, soft drinks, coffee and tea when lounge was open.

Yes. As a Platinum Premier MR member, we were given access to the Concierge lounge on the 8th floor. We did appreciate the morning breakfast (daily) before hitting the Wash DC sites and lite apps/drinks in the evening (Sun-Thur only, no Fri/Sat). Nothing super fancy at either, but certainly enough for our group to partake and enjoy. This lounge was only truly open during scheduled hours, so no access to grab a water/soda midday (like many other Marriott lounges).

Back to parking. Sure would be a nice perk for Presidential or Chairman's Club MVC members to include free parking.

Hmm this must have changed recently. In 2017 I remember coming back from sightseeing midday and getting water bottles while wife made a coffee.

I'd be interested to see others experience. But, 8th floor lounge door was definitely locked midday the two days we tried. Like you...I just wanted to grab a quick water bottle or soda after sightseeing. No luck. We were there Friday - Monday, so wonder if perhaps they lock the lounge after breakfast on the days where there is no evening apps/drinks? That would be Friday and Sat. No idea if true, but just a thought. Most lounges I've frequented are always open via card....even if nobody is in there working...to allow us to just grab a drink or apple.

Hmm maybe you are correct. I did not try on a Saturday or Sunday after breakfast as we were not back during the day. We went to the lounge during the week day afternoons. Like your experience, we are used to lounges being accessible with room key.

I was there recently on a weekend and was told that there is no lounge access on Saturday and Sunday after breakfast hours. I was offered an opportunity to get bottled water if needed at the front desk. Breakfast in lounge was very crowded on Sat and Sun starting about 8:30 and no tables were available at about 9am. I suggest going early if there on a weekend. It was difficult to get to the bottled water when the lounge was busy because it was in a fridge under the breakfast items and I didn't feel comfortable cutting in line to grab the water. The lounge attendant did a good job keeping things stocked in spite of the crowds.

In the future, I suggest using the timeshare points for week night stays (much cheaper and lounge open in am and pm).

Awesome! Thanks Frank808, saved a bundle with SpotHero, $68 vs $122 at the Mayflower. It’s savings season as I was also able to book two nights at MVC Pulse Mayflower short notice reservation for cherry blossom viewing (saved 200 DC Points). Total of 615 points for 2 nights after discount. Total cost to book 2 nights through Marriott.com 642 before taxes.
