The reviews are a little outdated.... We are planning on going May 2007. Any thoughts, recommendations, or general feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

Adam

Its a nice enough resort but somewhat isolated.
Not a whole lot to do so Its great for the people that like to spend their days relaxing around the pool.
When the tide is out you can walk a long ways befor hitting the water.

my photo site has a albums of different timeshare trips and one of them has a few photos taken at the Mayan puerto penasco resort.

The previous poster is correct. It's a long way from town, but if you plan on relaxing most of the time and taking 2 or 3 day trips into town, you'll enjoy it. You COULD go into town daily, it's just that the drive is a bit of a drag. May is a great time to go. The sea should be plenty warm for swimming, but the air won't be so hot as to be miserable. The beach is beautiful right in front of the MP.

The thing I don't like about MP is that the kitchen is so small. The fridge is too small to keep much in, and definitely no freezer space. There is just the one restaurant on site and other restaurants are quite a drive. Living close, taking a couple of ice chests worked well for us. There is a nice grocery store in town, called Super Ley if you plan to cook a few meals.

We could manage with the tiny wetbar size fridge as we had coolers with us.
The main problem was with the electric hotplat burners. We had fresh shrimp ready too cook and the burners would only get warm not hot enough to cook.
reported the problem but Maintenace never came so we gave up and went to the onsite resturant.
Next day maintenance came but could not get it working so had to take it with them as they had no spares. they were able to get one burner working at full heat but the other would only warm.
The maintenance tech told us they were having alot of problems with these burners and they all needed to be replaced but had none at the time.
