I thought I read somewhere that the Mayan Palace resorts offer a meal plan or meal coupons.. does anyone know if this is true? also what is the cost and what does it include.

TIA,
Susan

When we were in Acapulco at the Mayan Palace this past February, they had coupon booklets for the Breakfast Buffet (includes breakfast beverages). The booklet was $90 or so for 7 coupons. This includes tax & tip. This is about a 20% discount. The breakfast buffet is $17 + taxes & tip. It is very good, - we ate there one morning with friends, but we find we eat entirely too much when we go to a buffet.

They did not have one for the dinner buffet this time. That was the one that we bought when we were there 2 years ago.

When we were there, we found the room service to be about the best bargain. We like to have a late lunch/early dinner about 4:00 after a day on the beach and the restaurants are not open until 5:00 or 6:00 for dinner. We tried room service the first of our three weeks there and used it many times afterwards. We would ususally order one entree and an appetizer for the two of us. The fajitas were really good.

Thanks,

We are thinking of going to Nuevo Vallarta in Feb, March or April of next year and we are trying to decide between the Mayan Palace or the Paradise Village (where we own). We are taking our friends with us and I have always wanted to stay at the MP.. I have a bonus week with SFX and was going to check and see if they had anything available.

Our friends wanted to purchase the all inclusive package or a meal plan but the last time we went to PV we found that it we didnt spend that much for the food/drinks to make it worth it.

Is the MP as nice as PV? Does all of the units at MP offer a kitchen?

TIA,
Susan

When we are in PV or NV, we really do not want to do the All-Inclusive. We did it once at the Allegro next to Paradise Village, but it was the 2nd week of two that we were there. There are so many great places to go in PV, NV, and Bucerias that are reasonably priced.

We like the MP in NV. With SFX, request a Grand. They are 1/3 larger and you get to use all of the facilities at both the MP and GM. The kitchens in the Grand are much nicer than those in the regular MP. There are no ovens in either. The Grand has a 3/4 size refirigerator and at the MP, the frig is more of an undercounter "dorm" size one.

We stayed at Paradise Village once, and it was very nice. We enjoyed our stay and the rooms were large and the kitchen was more like what we have in US timeshares. Most of the ones we have stayed in while in Mexico are very small, couple of burners, microwave, small frig. (like the MP and Sheraton)

Thanks,
I checked with SFX and all of the grands were taken. I will put myself on a list and see if something shows up otherwise we will use our PV units.

Pittle-- how did you like the acupulco locations? Do they have nice pools and beaches?

Susan

We love the Acapulco Mayan Palace. Great pool that runs the length of the resort with a couple. It is between 3-4 feet deep and is ideal for walking in to cool off after a day on the beach. They also have a water park.

The beach is huge. We loved hanging out under a palapa all day. You can take a small cooler down there and have snacks and drinks in it. They also have the wait staff come by to see if you want anything and during the day.

There is a small flea market on the beach and the vendors are registered with the MP. They walk the beach trying to sell their wares, but are very good about not bothering you, after the 2nd day we were there, they knew we were not looking to buy and seldom asked us again. You can rent 4-wheelers, horses, and take an ultra-lifht flight from the beach.

We are planning to take our family there for Thanksgiving 2007.
