MAX-now that it’s operational, how is it and why would I want it?

I own HGVC at The District in Washington D.C. and am elite. Pretty sure if I converted I would lose my owner privileges at The District which I rather like, so no for me.

Honestly it might be worth the cost, but it’s just hard to determine and quantify the potential for the rules to evolve.

They are very effective at marketing. Exclusivity is not a typical Timeshare Owner concern. Fractional Ownership, maybe. Obviously bottlefeeder resale is all about value and that drew me in.

The idea of 50% less cost for a nice room was all I needed. No more sleeping in cars or Motel 6.

I can't recall the list time I slept in a car or Motel 6. I think I was 20+ years younger with more hair and weighed a bit less. I'd give up timeshares for that!

I was HGVC Elite Premier. I lost benefits going to MAX Premier+. I call it HGVC MIN.

This is the reason I will never become Max, even if free. I am legacy Elite Premier via 100% resale purchases, so if I switch to Max, I lose all my benefits as resale points don't count toward Max status tiers.

My first Max success - I was just able to reserve a 2 BR Pool View (2PX) at Cabo Azul in January 2024 for 25% off. It's not ocean view but about half the cost of the 1 BR Premier I had booked for La Pacifica and an easier place to walk in/out of. (I wound up splitting the week between the two as I haven't tried either yet.

Did you need to pay 2024 Maintenance Fees to book this exchange ?

No - HGVC allows booking in a future use year prior to paying the maintenance fees. They also allow borrowing points from a future use year for a reservation in the current year without paying the maintenance fees.

We purchased just recently and have The Club with HGV Max. We like The Elara in Vegas and can see availability for it at the six-month mark. So, that is cool. Also, Marbrisa in Carlsbad.
