Hello,
I will be staying at MOC-Molokai, Maui and Lanai Towers next month. I had a few questions regarding my trip. Before I dive into the questions, here are the details. staying in 2-bedroom got it through II. The code says OV, but I know that not guaranteed. There will be 2 children(1yr and 3yr). I'll have a rental car so we can explore;
  1. What tower and floor should I request?
  2. Any local restaurants you prefer?
  3. Local activities?
  4. Any tips/suggestions?

If you review the 3rd slide down on the attached you can see where the 2BDRM OV units can be.

Generally the MOC does honor the II codes so I think you will have an OV. We just had a 6th floor Lanai Towers 2BDRM OV that was sweet and Lanai Towers has the largest bulk of OV units as the charts indicate so that is our normal request. I think perhaps a rule of thumb is if you want quiet maybe you go with Molokai Towers facing Black Rock. And if you want to overlook the pool you can request Lanai Towers.

Highlights of our recent 3 week trip was a ferry to and jeep off roading on Lanai and Haleakala summit for sunset.

The view/location is not guaranteed for a trade, but any unit with an ocean view will be great. As pointed out above, the Lanai towers have great views, but most important is to request a high floor, as units on lower floors often have the views blocked by palm trees. The resort has a great pirate ship complex at the main pool for the young kids, and I would recommend "baby beach" in Lahaina to wade and get the kids wet. Restaurants abound in Whaler's village (a short walk on the beachwalk), and we enjoyed the new restaurant at the Sheraton (Can't remember the name). Monkeypod has great pizza, and a good happy hour (appetizers and drinks). The beachwalk at the resort has quite a bit of choices for food, and you can get a 10% discount with the discount card available at the welcome center. (Expect a push to go to a presentation, but it's absolutely not required).

Great list! Just made our reservations for both Lahaina Grill and Mama's for early March. Merriman's and Fleetwood's Rooftop both have to wait until 30 days out and we'll have to book both like a timeshare - right when reservations open. We'll also hit most of the TS Restaurants during our two weeks, plus the new Longhi's right there at Maui Ocean Club at least once. Need to try the Plantation House. Been going to Maui for decades and have never dined there.

Speaking of Longhi's at MOC,
1. Can you charge to your room yet ?
2. Have they started offering Happy Hour and pu pu's yet ?
3. Breakfast offerings?
4. What's the service like ?
5. Food better than last place (has to be) ?

They weren't open on our last trip so interested to know current situation for this November :)

Can’t answer for recently as we were last there in February, but we dined there in both October 2021 and Feb 2022.

We have always loved Longhi’s dating back to the old location on Front Street in Lahaina. Been dining there since the late 1980s. We were so happy to see Longhi’s reopen at our own Maui Ocean Club.

Both trips we did dinner and brunch. They offer dinner every night and brunch Fri, Sat, Sun. We thought the brunch was excellent. Eggs Benedict is what they are known for but they also served other breakfast/brunch items.

The dinner menu features many of the Longhi’s favorites from Front Street, including Shrimp Longhi and Prawns Venice. The menu is Italian influenced but with a tropical flair. Think “Italy comes to Hawaii.” In Oct the menu was still a bit limited, maybe due to lingering Covid recovery issues. They had expanded it a bit in February.

Service was what you would expect from a fine dining Hawaii restaurant dealing with staffing issues. The servers we had were all fantastic, experienced, and knowledgeable. They apologized that staffing was short, but we don’t mind that because we like a non-rushed dining experience. The pacing was fine for us.

Menus are here:

As of Feb there was no room charging. Not sure about now. The bar is open for seating for drinks and/or dining, so I’m sure you could get appetizers and drinks, but there is no mention of a happy hour per se.

Reservations are through OpenTable and open about 30 days out. Sunset is a popular time.

We just spent a week on Maui & Ko Olina (where we are owners). Any room is good as you're not in there that much. Our favorite restaurants are Fleetwood's on Front (get a roof top spot) & Pacific'o. Both need reservations and must eat spots.

One of our favorite spots is MaLa Tavern off Front Street. A small place right on the shore. The food is so good. For breakfast Sunrise Cafe is awesome. A tiny place that is cash only. We like Fleetwood's too. I need to try Pacifico's on our next trip to MOC.

Dinner---Plantation House and Merriman's were our two favorites by far....both superb, both upscale. Fleetwood's was good---more casual.
Breakfast---808 Grindz Cafe (very casual) and Plantation House (upscale BRUNCH).......Both awesome!

Note: view at Plantation House is incredible before dark....overlooks golf course with ocean in distance, but breathtaking. Get a window table!!!
Expansive deck outside at Merriman's is beautiful overlooking water...great spot to hang out & have a drink!.....not as great a view from inside, but still very good.
